HGI used with Hurst charts

Post by Pipstubborn »

Hi Trader Joe,

You grab my attention on how to use Hurst extensions for setting TP or the use of TDMTL for trailing stops while not at the pc. If you don't mind, could you explain more in detail and post some pics and/or the Hurst extension indi? Already have TDMTL.

In regards to HGI big arrows compared to Stochy Bob in real time they are early even if SB does not reach the ob/os for an entry. By not using HGI you are certainly right, sometimes the arrow prints in the middle zone of sto when reverses and therefore missing that entry and this happens mostly in strong trends, so I place a manual entry if I'm at the screen or if late I check if the price haven't move to much far away and place an order. I also neither close on opposite signal or false signal with HGB because these yellow wavies are only temporarily mainly on Asian due to low liquidity in the markets, but strangely enough the asian currencies moves during asian session. In other words, I have all the asian currency pairs trading 24 hours and the rest are trading London and NY only. By doing this I'm very happy because I'm losing less money than if I have the 28 pairs working 24 hours.

On the other hand, when looking back in history you can see that the arrows match exactly where the Stochy Bob fires the entries.

Hope this helps to see how I look and approach the markets and by all means please do not hestitate to make any comments...... after all I like SHF cause we as a community of traders we help each others to get a share of this humoungus forex market.

Once again, thanks for your comments.

Hello,

I would like to know if anyone knows how to use the (corridor stochastic) indicator used by Pedro2 in his strategy and template in page 55.

I am using the hurst cross on H4 and buy/sell according to that and having a good success , but would like to filter these trades more and have a better decision on the entry point.

if anyone can help, it would be of great value!

Regards,
Hussein

Hurst extention attached - it's fairly self explanatory. With HGI no use looking back at history as with anything TMA based. It is a real time signal so only forward testing will show the true comparison. [EDIT.. I'd forgotten we can still have ignoreFuture=True on HGI V17.xx so this does show the signals as they would have arrived when looking back]

Have a good week.

How are you getting on.. did you give the Hurst Extension a go for setting TP?

Below is an example of how on H4 price reacts to 100% of the 5/10 Hurst Extension and after the bounce may well extend further to 150% or on H1 often 200%.

I've got a bit more time available this week so happy to help further if any of this is useful?

These settings somehow give an early warning when compared to standard D1 settings (slow: 10, fast: 5) when observed on H1 chart.

@DL MACD HURST MTF
TF: 240
slow: 40
fast: 20

HGI used with Hurst charts

Hi All,

I have been re-reading all the posts and note that on Dec 19th 2014 Traderduke decided that the Hurst Channel was not useful in trading, and as it is set up with only one channel, I agree.
Dr Brian Milliard developed the channel principle much further, using different calculation methods to Hursts and nested three channels of different periods. This gave an excellent visual method of where Buy and sell point were.

See attachments: All are based on the Dow but the Milliard version is Daily whilst the others are 15m

1. Is a Milliard version

2. Is the version from "HGI used with Hurst charts" this I have adjusted to simulate a nested chart situation. Not bad but fiddly to set up.

3. Is a version that I found on the internet, with a calculation method that I cannot glean just by looking at the code. Note the bands are very rough and peaks and troughs off centre. I have placed a TMA 5 shown in dark red which gives a great indication of the peaks and troughs.
If it is possible and allowable to alter the code or to create another indicator with the bands based on the TMAs, it would give smoother channels and make a great trading indicator similar to Dr Brian Milliards.

It almost looks as though now would be a good time to buy the Dow :P

Hi ZYX,

What made you think that the Dow was a Buy. I would be interested to know how you decided that.

Hi Zyx,
I am surprised that you thought the first chart might be near a buy as it was clearly in a large downtrend. Had you bought the Dow about that level you would have been faced with a 900 Pip drop. It was three days before it finally turned bullish.

I have attached another chart from end of day on the 27th Aug, showing the following days movement you can see the long bar down that followed the bar you wee looking at in the last posted chart
I must also say that my comment that If it is possible to create another indicator with the bands based on the TMAs, it would give smoother channels and make a great trading indicator similar to Dr Brian Milliards. I should have checked first as the coder who wrote "Hurst_Bands-mod" had already produced a good channel indicator, a little fiddly to set ub for each index or currency pair, but ideal once done.

I trade 15m only using HGI & Hurst, but I am currently trying to integrate this with the channels as HGI & Hurst alone do not give the total distance price can probably move. Take a look at the second chart and let me know if you can see the potential. (Click on charts to enlarge)
