SERIOUS WARNING
  • Most Forex traders lose all their money.
  • Using the robot posted here in trading Forex does not guarantee success.
  • Trading this robot could lead to serious financial loss.
  • This is not a set-and-forget ea; there is no such thing and anyone who tries to claim there is, is either stupid or lying. This ea requires frequent manual intervention.
  • To trade this robot, you have to understand:
    • How to use EA's.
    • How to draw trend lines on your charts.
I have put Trendy here because he is an EA aide for traders trading off trend lines whose direction and gradient they have already decided upon. He allows you instruct him how to set stop and limit orders, then will move those trades as new candles open and the order fill prices fall outside of your trend lines. He has the usual ability to manage market trades. He offers the usual filters to stop trading; for example he will delete pendings if the spread widens unacceptably etc.

I have described how Trendy behaves and how to use him in the "Trendy.pdf" document, so read that before continuing.

I have no idea whether Trendy will be of any value in the long run. For sure, you can cheerfully ignore him if you do not trade with trend lines.

The purpose of this thread is to explore manual trading strategies that involve using trend lines to trigger trades - trades that start their life as pendings that require 'filling'. I make an initial offering in post 2 here. Please post strategies that you are trading, using Trendy as an aide. I can add links to them here. I can start a Trendy sub-forum for members to post their strategies should there prove to be legs in all this. We shall see.

Here is a strategy I arrived at accidentally.

I have been playing with it whilst ensuring that Trendy does not have too many bugs. I intended it to involve Bob's H4 240 LWMA applied to the Open.

This is a filter that I include with all my auto-trading EA's, so read about the details in the Shell User Guide in post 1.

I had intended this:
  • H4 chart with Bob's 240 lwma attached.
  • Draw trend/range lines when the market is clear of the lwma. Avoid trading when it has highs or lows that criss-cross it.
Now, we all know that I am an idiot. Accidentally, I made the lwma a 12 not 240 period. Before you ask in derision: nope, not a clue how. In my defence I did wonder briefly why the market appeared to criss cross the lwma so often. Only briefly, mind. Details schmetails.

I only have this on 7 charts. 4 open trades and the entire position several hundred pips in profit. Probably a fluke, but you never know.

Attached is a template that will set up the lwma for you. Change Period to 240 (H4 chart remember) to make the filter look as it should.

I will let you know when this crashes and burns. In the meantime, play with it or its variants to your hearts' content.
