No point unless you understand what is going on first. There really is no shortcut to understanding Bob's booklets, and your post suggests cluelessness.

Stick with it. Read everything over and again. Read the indicator booklets first; study the example charts; load one of the templates onto a chart and see how they work. Then read the trading systems booklet - Bob instructs you to read the indi booklets first, right at the start of this.

Read the system booklet several times; take it slowly. Then go to http://www.stevehopwoodforex.com/phpBB3 ... 476#p12476 to get some really useful trading tools. Start by trading only off the D1 chart at first, then move down to the D1/H4 combo. By then, the rest will have fallen into place and you will "get it" and be ready for the rest.

That is what I did.

This is tough at first. You will not regret having done so once the lightbulbs start to go off. What the EA is getting up to will make some sense as well.

I have reorganised void LookForTradingOpportunities() so that it calls functions that do the decision-making.

The int magic starts at 0. If any trigger applies, then magic becomes one of the (so far) three magic numbers, so no further checking is required.

Would you care to run your slide rule over this and see if you can spot any bloops? I am a bit better at coding than I was a while ago, so there should not be too many, but you never know.

Thanks very much for the moral support, much appreciated. This is my usual defensive strategy, by calling myself an idiot, I preempt others. It usually works.

Bob`s systems always use multiple EAs for various set ups (he compares it to playing GOLF, using different clubs for different shots). Mind you if we can have an EA which distinguishes different set ups and acts accordingly then great. IMHO the next best thing is what Steve suggested and have user options for different set ups.

By the way the EA has banked 387 pips so far. I am having very high hopes for this system, it has the best of all worlds and as a counter trend / Range and recovery trader at last a method is in place to assist in judging when to carry on with recovery or just to take the losses and run.

Ok no problem. One thing I want to emphasize is that we don't place additional orders unless the TMA Slope 1.4b >= 0.8 for buys, vice versa for sell.

I'm following Steve on this as well as TIB's trades and comments on FF for now, but as you were mentioning, i will look out for the posiibility of a trade as you mention and see how it go's. i cant promise i'll pick them all up but when i'm staring at my monitors, i would like to try this though.

I dont think it's as complicated as it initially seems but must ask this, do you treat the exit as a manual trade exit, or include all positions taken as part of the MPTM basket.?

and, would you consider this trade/s as 'stacking' or 'recovery' or would it not matter what the previous position was in.?

Identifying the trade will become easy however scanning across 40+ pairs is where the difficulty. For this I have something in mind later when we have the EA worked out.

With regards to trade management, I target the next weekly pivot level in the direction of the trade and take profit on 70% of my position at 30.0 pips, set breakeven +10.0 pips on the remaining 30%.

Regarding recovery, it's subjective, what I've found is averaging at the weekly pivot with a stop for both orders beyond the weekly pivot is effective.

I will try to codify all of this in a booklet as Steve requested and let Jemook beautify it.

astral, your post set me thinking. verb is spot on; separating out the EA's will lead to complications when we then decide to re-combine them. LUC's eyes lit up as soon as you suggested this.

Instead, how about some boolean inputs to allow/disallow certain trading stules - TradeD1, TradeD1H4, TradeRange etc? Would this help?

verb, I have a couple of favours to ask as you appear to have the best handle on all this. The tables you produced were magnificent. Do you have time to repeat the process for Counter-trend and swf trades?

Then, could you put it all together in a booklet that traders can use as a bullet-point summary of the methods, and as a check-list before pulling the trigger? I bet there are a fair few guys at FF who would love to have such a document as well. Say 'no' if you have not got the time.

Version 1g is in post 1. Nothing new, but I reliased I had not added the Range trading magic number to the function that detects open trades. NB will not recognise that it owns a range trade without this fix.

I am not going to do any fresh coding today. I have some work to do for a concert tomorrow, the first post in the manual tools thread needs rewriting, and NB's trading opportunity code is becoming messy. It needs the structure to be clearer, so the actual decision making needs putting in separate functions. The coders know what I am wittering about here.

Boolean inputs to enable and disable trade types will work fine.

I have time to put it together but cant commit to a time-frame, I've actually started on this already but it's not complete since I wanted to focus on the H4 trend trades and get those codified.

Its possible I could get inspired and have this done quite quickly however I just want to have screen time on live trades to feel comfortable about codifying the best range and SRF trades as I did with the trend trades.

Version 1h is in post 1. I have added the booleans to allow you to turn off trading styles - look in the 'Trading style input' section. You do not need the update if you have no interest in turning off any of the trading styles.

Turning off D1 trend trading results in no trades in the brief backtesting that I did. This could be faulty code or it could simply be that the pairs I tested (EU, GU) were in a trend throughout the test periods, so NB could not trade. Don't know yet.

Nor am I sure it matters. Given the barnstorming start the EA has made, left on 25 or so charts and just trading the D1 trend would net us the occasional pip or two.

I don't want to seem dense, but as I have Nb's templates running on two accounts live on my VPS (doing great manually by the way) can someone confirm that I can test this EA with just the EA and TMA slope for EA indicator running on the charts? that is how I have set it up (no trades yet). I am trying to save CPU usage on my VPS.
