Steve, got an idea for a strength meter. As you know Hanover did a great work but that dang thing eats up all your memory. What would happen if we took the slope values for each currency. Added them up and came up with an average slope angle. I would think it might be a good number.

For example you have the usd/cad at .54 and usd/jpy .49, usd/chf 1.25
Then you have the gbp/usd -1.09 but for the usd that would be +1.09 and the eur/usd is -1.24 but for the usd it would be +1.24 That would give us a total of +4.61 and that number could be compared with others for strength. Angle strength meter. The average would be divided by 5 or +.922 Wgat do you think. An overall angle meter??

That and a dashboard would be fantastic. Steve already done a rough dashboard to the slope but a full blown dashboard with alerts would be simply heaven!!! If he could ask one of our resident coding gurus they may find it hard to refuse (that is a hint ).

Bob, I've been working on an indicator like that. See http://www.stevehopwoodforex.com/phpBB3 ... f=12&t=503. I'm working out some kinks in the code with sq's help. I'm also writing a much simpler function that can be called from EAs. (It's much simpler because EAs don't have the insane execution model that indicators use.)

Astral, You sound like you're in exactly the same position as me, trying to find a 'style' with which you trade... cuz

Cheers CUZ. Started trading 2008, Loss making (in a big way) till end of 2009. Discovered NB system end of 2009. BOB taught me the following:
1. Keep lot sizes small
2. Lower your expectations
3. what goes up will come down
4. Manage DD
As a result, 2010 made profit (around 10%), 2011 made profit (around 25%). To prove a point I did publish my LIVE results of NB5 between JAN to JUNE 2011 during which time the account made a clear profit of over 40% in six months (please see NB VEr5 4h thread in FF). Overall profit was lower due to silly trading other systems at the same time, otherwise it would have been around 40% to 45%. The reason I am going to trade exclusively 10.2 from hereon is due to the fact that all of BOB`s systems have been profitable for me, but I tend to get adventureous and try other systems!!! If you go through my posts in ff you will see maybe around 50 to 60 posts mentioning the same thing. The reason I keep repeating it is to try to help newbies not to make my mistakes and realize they are on a good thing here.

As for Battle scarred veterns like you and me, we exchange tales of blown live accounts and the folly of high expectations in public, hoping to dissuade others repeating our mistakes. Alas, this seems to be an initiation journey that everyone must go through.

When I first found FF, I found a post by a Grizzled Old FF Vet that said, in effect, that Real Traders have blown at least three accounts.

"Naahhh" thought I. "No way will I blow my one account, never mind at least three."

5 accounts later, I have finally stopped blowing them. I suspect that any newbie reading this will think, "Naahh...................."

It always seems sooooo easy to start with. Then it takes a few years...................

Any newbs happening to be lucky enough to be reading this and intelligent enough to take any notice: I started trading in 2006; Astral started in 2008; it has taken us a while to come to grips with all this; it will take you less time if you take some notice of us and follow 10.2 as though you life depends upon it. The choice is yours.

One more point to any newbs happening to be lucky enough to be reading this and intelligent enough to take any notice: you are the luckiest newbs in the brief history of retail Forex trading. You have found Nanningbob.

Um, this thread has moved a bit away from what Bob originally intended.

Bob, if you want a thread dedicated purely to your chart postings, then start a new one and lock it - you are a pcm and so can do so. That way, the rest of us anarchists cannot hijack it.

ALTERNATIVELY, we could move these posts to a new forum and call it "Why Battle scarred Veterans trade NB 10.2" and clean up this forum.

LOL you guys are killing me. No this is good. I wanted a forum where we could just talk. This is really fulfilling that role. I can keep my trade postings at FF for the time being and use this to just talk about trading. Did you see the new Cowboy IBFX contest. 2000 bucks for the person who gets the most pips. Sounds right up my alley. Will check it out.
