I am in exactly the same position - almost default settings and no trades. Cowboy IBFX au, ECN on, a few changes to trade management etc but no trades. Indi in place, trade panel appears fine, no errors in the journal or experts.... Probably something dumb but it has me stumped!
Same for me - I did post a possible bug here:-

but don't know if it is connected. Don't think Steve has seen it yet though.

My Cowboy IBFX mini demo is trading fine with ECN kept at false. I have the EA on a chart using bob's template so I can see where it is taking trades etc.

Shouldnt a trade have been taken here on the CADJPY? I kept checking in on it to see but it never happened, traded other pairs throughout last night and today though.

I extrapolated additional trade types for all ranging situations. Just a note, ranging trade entry is probably best on completed close as the bands widen on a tick by tick basis. Thus using the Waiting To Buy/Sell BB EA's are probably not suited since the logic is not built for candle close inside the band from a candle close beyond it.

Please see attached, let's review it here. If there are any questions or mistakes please let me know here first and then perhaps we can circulate wider.

Hope it helps.
Updated to v1.4, found some typos:
V1.3
- Fixed typo in ranging short basic trade from “Price is below monthly pivot and below weekly pivot” to “Price is below monthly pivot and above weekly pivot“
V1.4
Fixed typo on Weekly Pivot Retrace, “Enter short ~5.0 pips above the Weekly Pivot” to “Enter short ~5.0 pips below the Weekly Pivot”
This is a fantastic contribution and we are all immensely grateful.

I have added the doc to post 1, with due appreciation of your efforts. Also added a link in the manual thread.

Nice one, verb.

:D
Read the effing manual, ok?

Great! I will use bob's template myself

1. Do you use D1 or H4 charts?
2. Do you have to change any settings? I'd like to set "Lot" to 0.01 initially.

I just have it running on 4h charts and I turned off range trading, set the lots to whatever you feel comfortable with. On a $1k mini demo I am using .05 lots.

Guys, do not angst too much about, "What should I do......?"

Only an idiot would put this EA on a live money account. It should only be traded on demo for now.

That means that you can play with it to your hearts content. So, bung it on a demo with lots of charts, and play with the inputs. If it does not trade within about 24 hours then you have done something that is basically wrong. That apart, have fun.

10.2 is best traded manually. This EA follows a looooooooooonnnnnngggggggggg way behind.Learn to trade manually, and you might be able to make the EA work from you.

:D

I am reasonably sure that there is a slight error in your logic though that applies to H4 trend trade "A trades" and H1 Trend Range Trade Types "A Trades". You have said that (for long bias):

- H4 Weekly Open Histogram 1x0 is < 0 orange-red
- H4 Weekly Open Histogram 2x0 is > 0 dark-green

In Bob's booklet - "Nanningbob 10.2 Update Weekly Open Indicator April 2012" he states under "Comparing the 2 histograms. Oh my!":

".....First when the green and blue match strong trend and good moves. Look to buy/sell into the trend"

On the next page he states:

"When the colors are opposites you look for 3 things.

1. Run is over.....
2. Reenter the run. These show up better on lower TF chart.
3. Price is ranging

Maybe you are considering #2 above when thinking of the main rule, being both "matching", go with the trend (essentially buying in a dip and vice versa)?

The same applies to the H1 "A trades" I think and also the reverse for shorts?

Cheers,
Dave.
I'm thinking of #2. Let me contemplate what you've pointed out and update tomorrow. I've banked over 300.0 pips on NB10.2 manual trading today and it's time for me to take a break.

Good input.
I have considered your point and I built those trade types for buying dips and selling rallies in accordance with the bias.

The slope will tell us when it's ranging at which we can switch to ranging uptrend / downtrend bias trades and SRF counter-trend trades (which I have not started on yet). It will tell us when the run is over when it changes trends.

I hope I understood your points.

suggession control parameters

Post by phil_trade »

Hi Steve

may I suggest adding the following controls codes in INIT() to automaticaly adjust LOT and PartCloseEnabled parameters to fit broker and instrument requirement :

Code: Select all

   //ajust Min_lot
   if (Lot < MarketInfo(Symbol(), MODE_MINLOT))
   {
   Alert(Symbol()+" Lot was ajust to Minlot = "+DoubleToStr(MarketInfo(Symbol(), MODE_MINLOT),Digits ) );
   Lot = MarketInfo(Symbol(), MODE_MINLOT);
   }
   //check Partial close parameters
   if (PartCloseEnabled == true)
   {
      if (Lot < Close_Lots + Preserve_Lots || Lot < MarketInfo(Symbol(), MODE_MINLOT) + Close_Lots )
      {
      Alert(Symbol()+" PartCloseEnabled is disabled because Lot < Close_Lots + Preserve_Lots or Lot < MarketInfo(Symbol(), MODE_MINLOT) + Close_Lots !");
      PartCloseEnabled = false;
      }
   }

Hi verb - your points are valid if this is for buying in a dip/selling rallies BUT if that was the intention then I think you should only be buying in a dip and selling rallies if D1 TMA slope is >=0.8/<=-0.8?

Bob's booklets clearly state (as I originally quoted) that BOTH H4 Weekly Open Histogram 2x1 and 1x0 should be in agreement for buying/selling with the trend as S/R or MA's are crossed - so perhaps this should be reflected in the H4 Trend Trade "Basic Trade"?

It's your document obviously but I thought it was going to reflect a codified version of Bob's rules and, although I think it is very useful, I don't think that is the case at the moment. Perhaps Bob will have a chance to read your document and tell me I am wrong :lol:

Anyway - please don't take any offense - there is certainly none intended.
