So, patience was required at the start of this week, along with a bit of drawdown...

finally my global closure kicked in about an hour ago, + 424 pips profit, making this weeks total so far 459 green pips (2544 pips since I started trading this system) :D

This is purely trading above below the 0.8/-0.8 slope on the daily chart with mptm set for BE+5 at 25 pips and using the global closure set for 400 pips.

Let me make sure I understand, Shelley: when the slope exceeds +/- 0.8, you go long/short, and you exit at 400 pips global profit.

Is your global closure for all your add-on positions in one pair, or for all positions in multiple pairs (if so, which pairs)?

How do you exit if you don't reach 400 pips open profit? Or hasn't that happened yet? :D

That's right Gary...I like to keep it simple and so far these high probability trades are working.

I check my charts after work (my time) which is just before London open...if slope exceeds +/- 0.8 I place a long/short trade.

MPTM is set as I described above for BE and/or global closure.

I have had quite a few trades retrace and close at BE, if I'm awake and notice and the slope is still +/- 0.8 I will re-enter, otherwise I just leave it.

So far since trading the GC has hit 4 times, and last Friday I closed manually for (I think) about 280 pips as I didn't want the trades open over the weekend with the issues in Europe.

Because I have limited time to watch the trades and most of the action happens over night for me, using the GC has been great and I'm pretty sure I would not have booked that much profit watching each pair. Anyway...works for me :D

Sorry Gary, forgot to answer your question about which pairs close...

Global closure is set to close all open trades across all pairs as well as pending trades.

Would you like a multi-pair EA for this, Shelley:
  • - user choice of trading hour.
    - trade pair list.
    - at appointed hour, cycle through the pairs: buy when >= 0.8; sell when <= -0.8.
    - mptm-style basket pips closure target.
Feel free to say 'no' if you actually use a bit more consideration of other factors and the EA would be of no use. I will not be offended.

:D
Read the effing manual, ok?

Afterprime is the official SHF broker. Read about them at https://www.stevehopwoodforex.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?p=175790#p175790.

I still suffer from OCCD. Good thing, really.

Anyone here feeling generous? My paypal account is always in the market for a tiny donation. pianodoodler@hotmail.com is the account.

Steve / Shelley,

I had a similar idea a few days ago.
At Daily look for pairs which are above / below 0.4 / -0.4
At H4 open a trade when above / below 0.8 / -0.8
Close when H4 goes below 0.4 / above -0.4
MPTM ?

I coded a very simple EA which I want to test first.
(but it isn't a multipair EA, so I have to load it on all the pairs I want it to trade)
Also this is more a longer term trend following version. So I guess it needs some time to see if it has legs.

Will keep you informed.

Steve, great idea to have a +0.8/-0.8 EA - would love to play with it...

Could you allow for user selectable trade tf (ie D1 or H4 base of TMA slope)

Cheers

Mop

PS: Given that many people work with 30+ charts, would it be possible to code such EA along lines of Scoob's FX Robot, ie. attach it only to one chart and read out all the available pairs (minus an exclusion list)? Is the memory consumption of one EA for all charts similar to one EA on EACH chart?

Steve, if Shelley can book 2500 pips in 9 minutes or however long it took her :D then a simple EA like that sounds like a good idea to me. Shelley, is that really all it takes? How many pairs do you typically trade? A 400 pip global closure across 2 pairs is a lot different to a 400 pip closure across 20. Maybe the EA should do a global closure when you get N * M pips open profit, where N is # of pairs currently open, and M is a target-per-pair value?
