If the MaCalcMethod was set to 'MA Single Line', it only uses the settings of the Slow MA
for that time frame
and it shows an Up arrow if there was a change in direction of the Slow
MA within the last LookBackMinutes and the most recent direction is Up. Opposite for a Dn
arrow. There is no signal (arrow), if within the last LookBackMinutes, the Slow MA didn't
change direction.
So fast MA period value isn't considered for Single Line MA method
That was my understanding that the FastMAPeriod is not considered for MA Single Line but we'll wait for Rene to read and respond to this issue.

Very nice! I know that I asked you for it before, but if possible, could you please share your settings file(.set)? Thank you in advance!
But I already did. I posted it in text and was graciously translated into set file by 2 other traders here, and the only missing number was the FastMAPeriod which has now been resolved, and we wait for more clarification from Rene.

I have been doing some testing for Rene on the sideline....amazing to see what he does beyond the scope of the human eye and great work that he does behind the scenes....unfortunately there is so much my computer can handle and I have only been able to do one test at a time so could not really be interactive here..

Yesterday I thought I was going bonkers and decided to connect mad trader again today.... My trades in the direction of the medium term tend...hey one thing we have to accept is drawdown...we have to adjust our lot sizes accordingly....34/60 remains important for me...

attached screenshot of Gu....

As an old scholar of Nanningbob my monthly pivot remains crux for me....

Take care guys and I dont want to be the dark horse here but also at the same token realize the trend is my best friend...
Hey Leon,

Not to worry at all, your ideas are greatly appreciated and welcomed. You're not the dark horse here and I was just concerned about the DD traders were complaining about and thot the original idea should resolve it for those traders that are looking for just 40 - 50 pips daily like myself. The alternative which I was also coincidentally thinking about this morning was what you have just mentioned - reduce lot size considerably.

Cheers brother

Nobody is immuned to DD and nobody can predict when a pullback becomes a reversal and the trend ends.

When I woke up this morning which was about 15 minutes after the ECB news conference started, net pips for the trades on my laptop were about 150+ pips and within 15 minutes, the profit was wiped off and the losses started mounting. As I looked at the reversal, I asked myself one question, if this were to be a live account, will you allow 150 pip profit turn into a 150+ pip loss. The answer was obvious and I closed all the trades manually leaving a net loss of 207 pips for the day. The EA refreshed and took new trades based on the new signals and within 25 minutes made 395 pip profit and the position was reversed.

This is the way I think, I am trading strength against weakness, and therefore
1. do not need to take unnecessary risk
2. SL of 20 - 30 pip should be adequate
3. if I am stopped out, there will always be another trade and I can re-enter
4. there will be momentum to my trade and should be in profit as quickly as possible
5. a 40 - 50 pips daily profit is ok for me
6. I will not nurse or babysit unnecessary DD when I could close the trade(s) and be on the NOW trend trade(s)

I did not close the trades on my desktop and this is the result

I have been trading for almost 7 years and have done really well when I trade the NOW trend and take whatever the market gives me. Every time I allow price to pullback/reversal on me, waiting for trend resumption I waste hours waiting, I am emotionally wearied and sometimes go into DD and most times end up closing the trades at a huge loss. Funny enough, most of the trades eventually turn and resume the original trend, but was the effort and anxiety worth it :?: :!:

I therefore came to one conclusion, I will trade ONLY the NOW trend - I will benefit when it is pulling back and still make pips when it is resuming its original trend. And thanks Rene for this masterpiece and work of art, because with this dashboard and EA, I have found a way to do just that, with low risk and low stress.

Awesome post George! Hearing from someone like you and Leon who have had success is inspirational for those of us who have traded for years and just haven't found our stride yet.
I am going to focus more on your idea for the EA than the others now after I researched MA filters and what could help DD but the truth is I have always been a short term trader and running a H4 EA is tough. Setting look back to something manageable for a H4 EA can work fine but it can take weeks for a trade to manifest

Then you have to patiently wait for it, knowing that when it comes, you will get all the pips you missed while waiting. 2 things kill traders in forex like we all know - fear and greed; and 2 things also make for our success - patience and discipline.

I do the same with my Demo accounts George, closing the trades when I see a good profit and cutting the losses when the NOW-direction is totally wrong
I'm trading these like I would do for a live account

I 'm currently testing 4 different setups,all profitable from M5 TimeFrame up to H4

only 1 of these is truly "experimental",and today I let it run during Draghi funny one man band show
7% loss,eh eh

and more,I have another account running an H1 setup,I use this in semi-manual mode,I run the EA 5 min after London opening ,and then I manage the trades manually 'til London lunch time.
This is a lot subjective, but with some good results for the moment(Demo).

I am as stubborn as a mule ,and I try every day to become a better Trader, but guess what?
MAD EA can trade much better than I can ,lol

You got that right brother - you are the better EA. I have learnt how to manage the EA - turn it off during high impact news and turn it on during normal trading :good:

Yes, that is confirmed. If you use for "Method for Calculation" the "MA Single Line", it does not need or use any of the Fast MA settings ( FastMAPeriod, FastMAMethod, FastAppliedPrice, FastMAShift ). It doesn't have to as it is only looking at one MA, and it was arbitrarily chosen to use the Slow MA settings for that.
