This would limit the trading to a max of one hedged basket to close during that day and since price usually moves far enough one way or the other from the daily open to close a basket this could also be more painless.
Finally as I am also doing some testing with MADDY for MAD-EA what about if we only activated GW for an hour at the start of the new D1 candle each day on a pair we we have a D1 signal to do so. Of course we are now limiting GW's trading massively but with 28 pairs and the pip hungry grid trading monster that GW is... :jump:
And what if we copy GW behavior regarding gridsize/ TP/ baskets/ resending etc. to the settings of HGBnG?
Use a shorter TF, say M15, and use HGI as the trigger to start a grid?

I'm not entirely up to speed with HGBnG, but most of the stuff should be there. Afterall, GW is a spin-off from HGBnG when Steve had a boring afternoon.... :jump:

Surely out of 28 pairs there would be more trending in the grid rather than ranging an accumulating positions?

I think you'd find the opposite i.e. more ranging than trending at any one time and usually currency groups range together so I could see one huge position building very quickly if you were running all pairs simultaneously and would certainly need a huge account even with 0.01.

What I am suggesting would only see GW trading one or maybe a few pairs max on any given day based on whichever are strongest / weakest and hence more likely to find direction during the day and bring closure to a hedged position. Starting from the daily open the size of the hedged position would build relative to the volatility of that pair during the Asian session and once the day gets going there should be sufficient direction to reach the pips target. Of course if that pair does decide to range instead of breakout then perhaps just pulling the plug is better than letting the position accumulate. The question is when. I will look at LWMA slopes and/or ADX I think.

Sounds like a HGBnG and MADDY combo which could well materialize in due course .. the UK has lots of rainy afternoons

I am going to see if I can prove any benefit to timing the grids for GW based on MADDY anyway which is pretty easy manually on D1.. it might go nowhere but worth a go.

It's an interesting thought as people do trade "Asian Session Breakouts" and with the twist of having GW trade that breakout is interesting.

As far as pulling the plug on trades, I am convinced that this is a way to move forward with GW. I currently only trade the GBPJPY with GW and it was a good run. 1100+ pips Monday. At this point, I have almost waited 24 hours and I am 6 buys against 5 sells with approximately -338 pips down. Should I have taken a stop loss when it was 3 trades on 3 or something to that effect, I may gave had time to have more closed winning positions instead of waiting for some winning swing that is less likely to happen that so.

I got a new idea with GW that I want to test next week which I think will either be "da bomb" or it might simply bomb out but it will be completely different from what has been tested before and I am eager to try this and share the news with you all. Hope it really works, I have a positive outlook.

Cheers! :jump:

Nice!

I'll remove GW from my live-account, it's not stable enough.
Tonight I had 2 times a runaway situation, needed to remove the EA and re-apply on a new candle.
I will look intro the HGBnG route and try to simulate the GW settings.

Question for the digitally more advanced, can such a runaway be caused by a slow VPS?
I have trouble running 4 Empty4's with in totall 12 charts on a 8Gb machine.

Your latest post reminded me about this.

Are you insane? You are piddling around here with this little toy yet are not up to speed with HGBnG? Wow.

I would intone, "I am speechless" but clearly am not.

I do suggest a modest realignment of priorities.

Read the effing manual, ok?

Afterprime is the official SHF broker. Read about them at https://www.stevehopwoodforex.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?p=175790#p175790.

I still suffer from OCCD. Good thing, really.
