EA's inspired by nanningbob's work here, especially those based on his 240 Moving Average trend detection filter.

If you decide to leave HGB'nG handsfree, make sure you don't overtrade, as available margin could become an issue if a cycle starts lasting longer. I'm still considering whether it would be better to close all positions for the weekend or every other week. Maybe closing out only those positions whose cycle starts perpetuating would be enough. This because I want to be able to trade many pairs, profiting from several trading signals, without margin to become an issue.

Cheers

Hope this helps.

I had the same idea while thinking about ways to minimize any potential runaway hedges. I came on here to propose the idea and found your post. A feature to close bad hedges/all positions, after x weeks/days as a solution for avoiding deep drawdown. I'm currently using MPTM to close all trades Friday afternoon but it might be better to close old hedges at a custom time limit/cycle.

Idea 2 Close negative hedges at defined hedge DD%

Idea 3 Use global profit to close out negative hedged positions at breakeven one at a time.

Hi! I have an idea that I would like to share, it can help eliminate the DD.

Example base on EURUSD yesterday's trading day:

Grid size = 25

EURUSD short @ 1.1060

Price then went up

Now the Bot will buy using the same grid size(25)

Let's say that now we have 6 positions(1 short, and 5 longs(1.1085, 1.1110, 1.1135, 1.1160 and 1.1185)

Altogether we are in profit, then instead of close only the longs, and keep the short, the bot could be closing all the positions, and wait for a new trading signal. What do you guys think about that?

You can do that by setting the hedgebasketpips or -$ to an amount feasable to your accountsize.

Here is something odd I noticed from last night. I apologise for the noise in the image and the lac of notation (because it's already full of junk).

Following the news event last night (4am GMT +2/3 or 4am GP time  ), a blue wavy appeared. That's to be expected after such a considerable shift in price.
HGBnG promptly opened a grid. That's good. I have it set up to do such a thing.

What is not so good is where the grid appears to be opened from. Check the image and it seems the grid was opened in the vacinity of the semafor whereas the bar open price is some 50 pips below this point.

My mind may be playing tricks on me but this seems to be a thing and one caused by epic news spread.

Is there a spread filter in place on HGBnG? It's a stupid question considering such a thing has been stock on SHF EAs for a some time. I don't have a lot of time to check the code either. So I thought I'd let the boss know and he can check it out or call me a dimwit (or more) and get on with his day.

Cheers,
BobbyT

PS: this is on NZDUSD H4

I have been reading here from the beginning but was distracted by Steve's toy Griddy Wotsit for a few weeks;
http://www.stevehopwoodforex.com/phpBB3 ... f=5&t=4610

Last night made sure for me that GW wasn't going to make it, but I loved the way it hoarded pips in, averiging 1.000 pips a day using 8 pairs.....

After playing with the settings of HGBnG last night, I came up with settings that kind of emulated GW's behavior, but without the hassle of being caught in a huge basket. I woke up to some 800 pips this morning, and tried some more. I added Milanese's SAPBTM to a blank chart and set it to clear the board after all the open positions reached 1% profit.

SAPBTM just closed it's first basket, deleting all pendings after closing the profit and thus killing all potential losing hedges.

I set HGBnG to the M5 chart, to generate as much signals as possible.
I'll update here after I learned more.

Nice one Gertje...! :good:

Been playing around with similar ideas but wanted to get a good graps on HGBnG first.

Really eager to see how this plays out. Good luck!
