Holy Graily Bob 'n Grid

EA's inspired by nanningbob's work here, especially those based on his 240 Moving Average trend detection filter.

That is pure class. I applaud you sir.

Noobs, it takes one good post/pm to rise from zero to hero here at SHF, or one good idea sent to me to code into an EA.

Ask cyberevil. I had no idea whom he was before the datestamp at the start of this thread. Now look at the respect we have for him.

Give it some thought before posting like an idiot.

Read the effing manual, ok?

Afterprime is the official SHF broker. Read about them at https://www.stevehopwoodforex.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?p=175790#p175790.

I still suffer from OCCD. Good thing, really.

Thought I give you guys all a mid week update! 8-)

I'm not doing as good at Mr. Hopwood but its something to be proud of for one months and week results. :yahoo:

Drawdown: Exit Strategies and Avoiding Common Mistakes

Statistically, in the very first tick after opening a trade there is a 50% probability that a price will fall below the open level (ignoring spread). For the lifespan of most trades, the odds of experiencing drawdown at some point are 90% or higher. In other words, at best expect only one in ten of your trades not to experience drawdown at some point.

This will help the noobs who are struggling to understand why this ea goes into draw down and how to deal with it.

Its a very nice bot Steve. Impressive work honestly. My results from same time frame as Cyber. Results include open and closed trades.

Wait let me join in the fun to thank Steve and Cy for this EA and trading idea :good:
Here is since March with a little manual fiddling here and there, trying new features and versions. Did not have much fun with the stop limit orders since last week as compared to stop only.
Still, same as Steve, I went back to the stop only method.
Bliss...

Thanks guys for sharing your results. It's great to see and analyze each other's pairs and how they behave with this bot.

I'm no hero, honestly. Ideas are dime a dozen in this world. It's people like you Steve, Bob, and Tommaso that are the true heroes here at SHF!!!

My only advice to new commers would be to do what I did here, which was to quitley watch and learn. Steve didn't know me but I knew of him from very long time. I followed his work on ff and then he disappeared. I Google him after few years and found this forum. I was very impressed by hgi just as everyone was. I must have read the thread and manual 3 times.

I have been grid trading but once I put hgi in the mix it was a match made in heaven. Tried it manually for few months and finally decided to contact Steve. I was very hesitatent at first and the concept was difficult to explain but Steve liked it and figure it out. Rest was a history with all the great ideas and feedback from all of you.

It's a good team we have here and now I understand why Steve is so protective of this place.

Thanks Steve and Cyber for bringing this bot in to the world...

For those who are interested in a more aggressive approach, I'm trialling HGBnG on:
- Trading TF: H1
- ATR TF: 4HR
- No filters
- Stop & Limit orders....

Note: I use 1500 per dollop because of I'm trading in AUD$. So for USD$ you could use $1000 instead.

Looks good on Demo with Global Prime and AxiTrader... I've been playing around with live and interference is not generating good resutls but will report next week on that one... have gone back to Stop Orders Only to see how these demos pan out... there are more whipsaws at lower TF

Global Prime Demo with starting balance AUD$: 1500

AxiTrader Demo with starting balance AUD$: 4000

Happy Trading! :D

I am running 3 demos starting this week:

1. Stop and Limit orders, running from opening of the trading week Sunday, closing 9 hours before trading week end.

2. Stop and Limit orders, running from opening of the trading week Monday, closing 9 hours before trading week end.

3. Stop orders only, running from opening of the trading week Monday, closing 9 hours before trading week end.

I found this is the most profitable time for me to close at the end of the week.

Hoping to go live next week! Will update at the end of the week.

Thanks again Steve!
So I am following Steve and others in using Stop orders only after a few amazing initial weeks of using the Stop and Limit orders.

This week the stop and limit orders did not do too well.

1. Margin called! Well not quite but it would have had I left it running.

2. Banked 2000 pips but is in DD 1500

3. +2700 pips if I were to close all trades now. I will be letting it run until my Friday closure hits. I want to see how "handsoff" it can run :)

I feel as I'm sure the others do that the Stop only method is the safest method as well as requiring far less margin. This is the one I will be going live with.

Just a quick question for everyone who recently posted their results:

Did you guys all use the latest 1r version to achieve these?

I will be updating this weekend and restarting a few demos with different settings. My results are on the formerly named HGBNG Experimental.

Am using ver 1L as its working well with me. Stop orders only, 15 days of trading has banked 3000 pips and about 1k in cash as of yesterday. OOTB with minimal intervention.and by intervention i dont use any rocket science. i just tend to close all when profit looks good for the day and i dont like to leave trades open during the later part of US session. i just close my open trades 3 hours into US session. but i do leave HGBG on 24hrs..if he sees something he likes, i dont stop him from going for it . He He.

Thanks to u guys,

Sara
