Am I correct in saying that the picture below shows the Complex single-sided offsetting method?

Both short trades 2/3 offset trade 1
Hey Fibotrend, yes I would say you are correct and a nice example to demonstrate :hi:

The quickest and easiest way to find trades closed by the different methods is to go to the history tab and arrange the trades by closure time. Trades closed within a second or two of each other. Taking buys as an example:
  • losing and larger winning pair = simple offset.
  • losing sell and (usually) >1 winning buys = double sided complex.
  • one large losing buy and several small winning buys = single sided complex.
The chart will probably be a mess of confusing lines. Ctrl + B to bring up the Objects window, select all and delete them to clear all the lines. Then drag each trade in the group onto the chart and the crapform will draw a line from where the trade opened to where it closed.

That way you can see easily how the offset worked.

It's getting quite obvious now what the setting should be, on or off;

I will let it run for a few day's more.

Perhaps worth noting here that the trading volume generated even on just one GJ chart at 0.01 is sufficient to cover Beeks VPS free of charge via Global Prime. I just realized this and have switched to Beeks VPS today.

Bloop alert

Post by SteveHopwood »

V 1l is in post 1. Again. I accidentally went back a couple of letters last week, so don't confuse the current 1l with previous 1l versions. Losing the will to live yet? Welcome to my world.

I just received this from Master Bloop Spotter dydynamic:
dydynamic wrote:Subject: Rinse 'n Repeat

hi Master Steve,
Sorry to bother you,
line 2676, "ForceTradeClosure=true;",should be,"return(false);".
line 2559,after this line,"if(!result) return(false);", is missing.
cheers......
100% dead right. Thanks again.

Fixed in V 1l.

If you want to make the changes yourselves, then my line numbers are slightly different to dydynamic's - this is bound to happen when you are making your own code changes rather than downloading the Bone-Idle Gits Peasants' Version from post 1. The lines are only out by a few and are easy enough to find.

This bloop affects HGBnG, GW, my shells and the retro-fitting .mq4 file.

Thingy is, coding and alcohol do not mix and I am well into my second glass of dinner wine - both of which were preceded by a large Malt. I am not going to do anything about the rest of this until the morning. The only possible result could be lots of :arrrg:

I do suggest that those of you trading any of this stuff live find the offending lines and make your own changes just to be on the safe side. In reality, it is unlikely to be a problem but tight coding is always better than bollocks.

More about this in the morning.
