Take notice of the fact that these two EA's made nearly 7% during last week, trading 0.01 lots per $2.000....
The 'OFF' version made 50% more profit than the 'ON' version.
Gertje,

Useful results despite the recent changes. Thanks. Looking back through your stats, it does seem that in this example, single sided complex OFF is the better setting.

Dear Bruster,
Thank you for your reply.
I did already play with the disable for more buy when max buy is reached (for example) and I agree that it will "sometime" cause the EA to miss a chance to close the worst order when price has a good retracement. But I also face in the condition that price slowly trending in the long downward with very small retracement, the added more buys become problem than help. These buy orders are accumulated little by little and cause larger and larger DD until the account collapse. That is the reason I feel that when max buy is reached (price should move downward quite a bit with little retracement so that buys are accumualed to reached the max buy) market could be considered downtrend where more sells are needed to get rid of a buy order.

That is what I am thinking. Anyway, I do respect your decision and very appreciate your and Steve's work put in this EA.

Thank you.

Then at some point freeze the max number of trades

at some point we will be in a position to close an internal basket of trades

Trades # will have dropped below freezing point and RnR can now go back trading

Is there a way with current controls to test this theory out.
The recovery mode can already do part of what you're looking for in that the behaviour is fully configurable from within the settings - so for example, you can tell it to stop adding trades on either side etc. However, closing a partial basket is not built in and is a manual strategy because there are too many unknowns. You've been manually calculating the profits and losses of the various trades on each side and making a decision as to which to close. I don't quite follow your numbers but it's likely to be a different number / proportion each time therefore it can't be done automatically. To avoid creating a widening gap / "dead zone" between the buys and sells you have to close the outer trades first which is the basic principal of this system.

If you're able to get more evidence of success with your ideas and define the rules precisely then I'll look at it but I still think we've got enough to work with as it is.

This is how RnR_EXP has performed since Friday.

Interesting results. I know it's only be a few days but it does show the different behaviours of the various settings. In a relatively flat market (GBPUSD), having offsets and recovery off has produced the better results. However in a trending market (JPYUSD) the offset and recovery set to true has helped to keep down DD significantly. That suggests that you need to make sure that the number of trades to trigger offset has to be high enough that it doesn't kick in until the market starts to trend. Without the closed trades I can see the mix between the two pairs but that certainly seems to be what the performance to date is showing. Will be interesting to see how it copes when the yen consolidates.

Update 1a in post 1. This is a minor update to the screen text and doesn't change how the bot trades. If you were running with recovery ON and hit max trades the screen text shows this. However, it wouldn't change this text if you then subsequently turned recovery OFF. The bot would return to normal trading but the text would still show incorrectly that it hadn't. It doesn't now. Unless this bothers you, I wouldn't switch versions on active instances.

Hi Bruster,

I switched to Recovery Mode yesterday, but I see that bot is still opening position as before. It executes reduction of DD by closing most loosing position on retracement, but still opening new position above/below yellow line. Is this normal behavior?
I would appreciate your comments.

Cheers,
Krzysztof

Firstly, many thanks for this, it looks very promising indeed.

Currently running demos, all going well, but this week has been quite quiet in the market, so all preforming very well, waiting for a shock to see how it cope.

Just one thought, I have set MinPipProfitOnClosure = 3pips, but think it would be beneficial to be give this 2 different values, a higher one when in normal mode, but a smaller one, even 0, when in recovery mode. This should aid/speed up recovery but put more in the bank when in normal mode.

Thanks again.
