Hi TJF

What do you think of the following analysis.

Take a closely monitored short term sell side on this, whilst awaiting the move up, for a number of reasons.

1) The CSS on W1 is strongly for CAD vs GBP, on D1 they are ranging but CAD is above 0 and GBP is below, on H4 the picture is the same as W1

2) On the charts themselves, W1 and D1 have strong DT's higher up the 6ths grid.

3) The moving averages are angled steeply down with a big gap between the fast and slow (8 and 21)

Complicating factors

Very close to bottom of trading range for over a month on H4 - normally wouldn't want that sort of trade but if you trail it close or have a tight TP it may be good for a few pips whilst waiting for the anticipated move North.

Brexit induced volatility - will she go North or South ?

I have tried it with WeighOnlySymbolOnChart set to true and that helped but still nothing like yours.
I am looking at the D1 on H4 ..

Just remember the TMA centered repaints with the best of them so yes it will look amazingly timely looking back on lower timeframes .. :smile:

... Having said that if it helps in the Now then that is great :clap:

p.s. why not post some charts and share your entries....

I do tend to be early rather than late as trying to tune myself more to price action for manual trades and enter without many indicators .. just CSS and Sixths seems a good combo for here right now.

Looking back on M5 would have supported your analysis for a short term sell yesterday .. I'd say only for the brave though. Price got quite close to my SL but I'm still in Long.

I've just been setting this up with Squalou's sixth indicator kindly provided by jozec. I've noticed that it does still have a zoom factor in it and will show different levels depending on what level of zoom you've got your chart set to.

The high and low calculations are set to a fixed number of bars (BarCount) but the start point still varies by "shift":

Code: Select all

double high = High[iHighest(NULL,0,MODE_HIGH,_BarCount,shift)];
      double low  = Low[iLowest(NULL,0,MODE_LOW,_BarCount,shift)];
where shift =

Code: Select all

int shift = MathMax(WindowFirstVisibleBar()-WindowBarsPerChart()*0.8,0);
if you've always got the chart on the same zoom you won't notice but I just thought I'd point it out. It's also worth noting that the length of the lines drawn gives the false impression that you can look back at the painted levels and see past trades - this is not the case. The lines are drawn back far enough that they would have been at different levels back at that time and therefore can't be used.

In true forum ethos, I'm not just coming with problems, here are a few indicators that help to explain what I'm describing:

SIXTHS SQ_mod1 :
- I've set the "shift" to a fixed level of 1 so it's always looking back just BarCount bars and won't change with zoom.
- I've reduced the length of the lines to remove the temptation to look back at past price action - obviously the calcs are still using BarCount.
- I've also added optional trading zones to quickly show the areas to look for reversals
SIXTHS SQ_mod1.mq4
Sixths_As_Bands :
- This is to help with visual back testing as it shows where the lines would have been at each point in time
Sixths_As_Bands.mq4

HI Bruster

Thanks for this contribution and the observation that the 6ths is valid for prices now and not as a past price range indicator.

I applied the mod to a chart and just didn't quite get your statement above - please elaborate.

Thanks

Of course, all I've done is highlight the reversal zones (above and below the gold 6th) - set ShowTradeZoneBoxes to true to see.

regards.
