Might as well liquidate the entire grid when there are equal numbers of buys and sells that have gotten 'stuck', and start again.
.. trading GJ you don't get stuck. There is always a move to clear the grid (pretty much daily or twice daily at the moment) hence Steve's recommendation for just trading this pair.

haha.. :lol: well they say people need to see/hear something from at least 3 sources before it's taken in.

My live account now + 15% since I started Sunday night so I figure wherever it gets to end of this week I'll withdraw the lot and have one week's holiday during Brexit.

All I can say is thank you Steve, Bruster and Remon for the work that made this bot work. Whether or not we get anywhere with ideas to reduce drawdown the fact is this is already a work of art.

I tested SimpleSingleSideOffsetting (SSSO) with 6 against 4 trades. It wasfitn't nearly as proable as the original method with 4 trades. It also didn't put a lid on the amount of orders being opened on the opposite side.
This method is not the same as the one you tried, this one gives R n R the ability to offset in a short term, medium term and long term mode. Remember the market moves in random motion but with intent, at a time R n R could offset after 5 buy trades, or even 12 buy trades or 9 buy trades or even 15 buy trades, this helps the profit to vary and sometimes far higher than the loss trades closed, and the excess profit will help fight draw down to a great extent until a good swing comes along and wipe out the draw down and you are left with a sizeable equity.... :)
Also I believe there is a flaw in your logic, in the way you describe the start of SSSO after a directional change.
My dear, no logic is perfect and that is why Master Steve asked me to bring it up here so that we put heads together and make the logic as perfect as possible......
cheers...... :hi:
Then I guess I totally misunderstood you.

I agree with Steve and TJF, and will trade the EA as originally intended.

I started to type this: "I shall be looking for a favourable place to shut down until after the UK EU referendum from tomorrow. I could do so now, but will leave the bot running for another 24 hours so I can net some more pips."

Thingy is, my instinct has been screaming at me all day, "Stop trading NOW. Pocket the profits from this week and KNOCK OFF".

I have learned to trust this instinct over the years, so I have closed my position, shut down RnR and will resume trading in a couple of weeks.

Now that I am out of the market, RnR will garner 400,000 pips between now and Friday. :arrrg: :arrrg: :arrrg: Hey ho.

If I had stayed in, GJ would have gone on the leaky toilet run to end all leaky toilet runs and left me with $4,000 DD at close of business of Friday.

Give serious thought to following my lead guys, unless you are a really, really experienced and successful trader. Remember that Global Prime quadruple their margin requirements on Saturday and I do not suppose they are alone. I do not fancy being stuck on the wrong end of a leaky toilet come last thingy Friday night.

The UK EU referendum is a seismic event. Anyone who has been here for more than 5 minutes knows how chaotic are the Forex markets. Market jitters in the run up to the referendum will produce fabulous opportunities for clever and skilled traders. They could easily massacre those of us trading RnR.

Start looking for position closing opportunities folks. Your equity is ahead of your DD this week? Fantastic. Shut down NOW.

Instead, set up a new demo and watch how RnR handles the next fortnight. It should be fun and could easily be instructive - and at the end we will have a new perspective on how RnR handles extreme volatility.

I closed my position just before starting to type this post. I found myself breathing more and more easily as I typed. I had not realised just how tense I had become.

I might even start being kind to dimwits.

Erm.

Erm.

Naaaaaahhhhhhhhhhh.

Watching my 0.01 per 2000 demo test account get wiped out today I am glad I took Steve's advice closing up shop and banking my live profits.

Steve you have Sixth Sense :ugeek:

What I am wondering though is with the Exp version could we make an alternative test version that uses imbalance between buys and sells rather than just number of buys or sells to decide whether the bot is in recovery mode or not. If the imbalance is more than x then it is recovery mode.

I have a cunning plan and I think this will help.

Attached the 3 tests and results.
Magic#0 = M15 TF hedge
Magic#1 = H1 TF hedge
Magic#2 = H4 TF hedge

Below the overall result/ DD for the 3 tests;

And the 3 seperate results/ DD;

The numbers don't add up completely, need to look into that.
For now the H1 seems the lesser performer.
.
Gertje,

I am not sure if the following code apply to the hedging being discussed:

extern bool HedgeOnTrendArrow=true;
extern bool HedgeOnBlueWavy=true;
extern bool CloseHedgeOnYellowWave=true;
extern bool OffsetLosersWhenClosingHedge=true;

If False will revert back to the original concept, please confirm.

... ok so to explain a bit further:

If the difference between the number of buy trades and sell trades is more than x this is buy recovery

If the difference between the number of sell trades and buy trades is more than x this is sell recovery

I would setup the recovery options as below so that in buy recovery (downtrend) no more buys can be opened until the sells have caught up and in sell recovery (uptrend) no more sells can be opened until the buys have caught up. Unless I am missing something surely this would limit the draw down significantly?

I do not use the recovery version - don't need it.

I've been following your fxblue daily stats since you've posted it few weeks back on EURAUD. Rock solid for 1.5 months since the start. Guess this pair works better. . 22% climb on 1.5 monthsCongrats!

I've setup the same on my side too for that pair for at least a week now (after GJ having its whiplash). Lets see if it survive BREXIT , and i believe its a demo acct.
