TradeReport

Post by tomele »

Hi Rene,

found a little bug in TradeReport. If you enter only one currency like "USD" in symbol filter, no results are given. Line 315 must be changed to:

Code: Select all

         if ( (SymbolFilter != "") && ( StringFind( OrderSymbol(), SymbolFilter ) == -1 ) ) continue;
EDIT: If that was by intention to filter by a list of pairs, I apologize. Maybe you could then add the check above, so one can filter by a single currency as well as by a list of pairs.

This is an update of TradeReport in Post 1 that addresses some of Tomele's concerns.

It is now possible to filter the result set of trades by either (1) a list of currency pairs or (2) a list of currencies.

Nice one Rene. This is one fantastic piece of kit that just gets better and better.

Read the effing manual, ok?

Afterprime is the official SHF broker. Read about them at https://www.stevehopwoodforex.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?p=175790#p175790.

I still suffer from OCCD. Good thing, really.

Anyone here feeling generous? My paypal account is always in the market for a tiny donation. pianodoodler@hotmail.com is the account.

Thanks very much for this indi :hi: :hi: much appreciated

Please could someone be so kind as to resolve my confusion about the relationship between 'Net Pips' and 'Net P/L':

With 'Open+Closed' trades I see the 'Net P/L' figure corresponds exactly with my equity figure in the terminal so I'm ok with that ......It's the Net Pips is where I'm struggling - very often the figure is nothing like I would expect to see considering the Net P/L and lot size. I've seen Net Pips many multiples what the Net P/L would lead me to expect to see....I've also seen high negative Net Pips when the Net P/L is positive.....so confused how this could come about. I feel I'm missing something very obvious...please excuse for the billy basic question

Net PIPs is calculated for each pair, by taking the difference of the OrderClosePrice and the OrderOpenPrice and multiplying this amount by the PIPFactor for that pair. I.e. it just looks at the amount of PIPs gained or lost with the trade.
Example:
(1) EURUSD: BUY at 1.1140, Close at 1.1180. Difference: +0.0040, or 40 PIPs
(2) USDJPY: SELL at 102.25, Close at 102.85. Difference: -0.60, or -60 PIPs

The Net PIPs column displays the total (in PIPs) of all these open and close price differences, taken over all trades in the result set.

The Net Profit/Loss column represents the actual dollar amount gained or lost by all the trades in the result set.

It is possible that the Net PIPs amount is positive and the Net P/L figure is negative and vice versa, as in the Net PIPs calculation the lotsize of each trade is not taken into account. So, if eg. you have many winning trades with a small lot size and a few losing trades with a big lot size, your Net PIPs figure can be positive, whilst your Net P/L figure is negative.

Hope this clears the confusion.

TradeReport

Hi,

Rene absolutely explained it. I just want to add two other causes I observed.

1. If you are trading with an ECN Criminal (or honest ECN broker like GP), you pay commission instead of pips for every trade. Make a big number of trades with tiny pips and the commission will draw your equity into negative.

2. If you are trading different pairs side by side, the pips for each mean different amounts of cash. You can have many positive pips for little money and some negative pips for much more money. You will also get this deviation.

Hope this helps.

Rene and Tomele, many thanks for taking the time to reply :) That is much clearer now. Thank you. :)

I was also caught out my stupidity of not spotting DottyBot + MA has a 'first trade multiplier' of 5 in the default settings.......I thought all my demo trades had a fixed lot size of 0.05

Is there a way to adjust TradeReport position in chart windo

Post by wezzley »

Rene, continued thanks for this indi - I use it every day and really appreciate it.

I have been wondering recently if there is an easy way to shift it to the centre of my charts? so I can observe the upper grid trades/orders more clearly I've had a good look in the code and see lots of x & y coordinates of 0 & 15 .....I'm prepared to try changing them all but I have no experience in these matters and don't fancy my chances. I see reference at the end of the code to some buttons..I wonder if they are a function I'm missing...or just an artifact maybe. Anyway, if there is an easy way, would be most grateful to hear..if not I'll definitely survive without so no worries!

Thanks again!
