Is any significant differance between Slope and CSSDiff in numbers/value what they present?

You'd have to ask Baluda but my guess, and I probably am wrong, the slope measurement is the angle of TMA and CSS diff is a comparison of two or more slopes.

You need to ask Baluda that question.

Bob, do you have an idea of how I can use stealth technology to hide my stops and tp while trading manually?

That's done with an EA. I use Steves MPTM when I use one. I think Milanse has one too. The other kind you can use is a MA EA that only closes trades for example when bid hits 7 MA or 10 MA close trade. The pips you collect the lower the TF you can use to tighten the SL or TP. For example a 10 MA gives you a lot more room on a 4h chart than a 15m MA chart.

I am experimenting with Baludas CSS. If it crosses up 15 it sends me a message. If it crosses up 30. It sends me a message. When it crosses down 30 then I get a message and decide to close then or wait till it crosses 15 down again. Playing with it and testing the concept.

On a 4H chart, I know Bob uses 240LWMA and 60LWMA. My question - what are the equivalents of these for a 1H chart? Is there a mathematical formula for working this out?

Bob's HGI docs worked it out like so:

2 MA on Monthly chart x 4 weeks in a month equals 8 MA on a weekly chart.
8 MA on a weekly chart x 5 days in a week equals the 40 MA one a daily chart.
40 MA on a daily chart x 64 hour periods in a day equals 240 on the 4H chart.

Going by the above, 1H would be worked out like:
40MA on a daily chart x 24 1 Hour periods in a day equals 960 on a 1H chart

A 960MA seems a little off to me - anyone have suggestions? And would the 60LWMA stay the same?

Thanks for any input in advance :)

Good question. I use what's called top down trading. Check what the high end charts are doing and then trade a lower TF in the same direction to get the best and biggest moves. This also limits backlash in price movement and the ability to recover losing trades. For daily and 4h charts knowing what's happening on weekly and monthly charts is key to successful trading.

On lower TF you don't need to reach that high to do top down trading. On 1h the 60 on the 4h is the 240 line. Then use the 10 ma on the 4h which is the 60ma on the hourly. This way your one hour trading is based on weekly moves. Which way is price going this week and trade in that direction. 15m charts you want to trade info from the 4h and hourly candle. You are trading session by session so you want to know which way that 4 hour candle is going. Hope this helps.

Hi Bob,

Thanks for the detailed response; it is very appreciated.

Just so I'm absolutely sure I'm understanding this:

If trading 1H charts, we look to H4 and daily for direction
If trading 4H charts, we look to daily and weekly for direction

So on a daily chart, the MA's we need are 40 and 10
On 4H, we need 240 and 60

So instead of using any Moving Averages on a 1H chart, I should simply take the direction from a 4H chart and trade in that direction. Did I get that right?

Cheers

4h I like weekly and monthly but daily and weekly is good too. Use 240 and 60 on 1h because that's a 60ma and 15 on the 4h. If you want it a bit tighter use the 40 ma on 1h which is a 10 ma on 4h. You can see what works best for you with a little experimentation. What you want is higher trend direction then your trading system. They are two separate things. Get the direction, then find your best entrance. Most traders only do one of the two. Learn to do both. Me. You know I use CSS for trend direction then use HGI for my entrances along with session start time and active currency pairs for that session. So my trades pass 4 steps before I enter when I discipline myself. (Doesn't always happen)

"The pursuit of actively trying to beat the market" - I am convinced that is at the bottom of all our hearts. At least of mine. :D
