Hello TJF

Quick question. I'm testing the 5 pip grid and I had a losing basket closure of positions opened by HGBnG Short.

JUst to confirm: the only way I would get this would be via a

OnlyCloseProfitablePositions=true
OnlyCloseProfitablePositions,F=false

As per your setfile, correct?

Just making sure! Actually I just checked and we have exactly the same closure

Take a short peek on the 50p set since yesterday morning...
Account 1K
yesterday - Account loss of -203 EUR and -24 EUR open positions
today - Account + 33.81 and -36 EUR open positions
Sum: -170,02 EUR and -36 EUR open positions

Yes this is correct.

When I started this thread I tested with OnlyCloseProfitabelPositions = true but this didn't work out so that is why I changed to OnlyCloseProfitablePositions = False.

This strategy had a good run last few weeks but yesterday and today have not been great. Will have to see where this goes this week.

Hey Joe,

I've been demoing a GridMaster (HGBnG + RnR) combination too.
HGBnG on the M30 with stop & limit orders with your instructed 0.05 lots as opposed to RnR which trades with 0.01 lots. Here's my result so far:

Early days or rather lucky so far since indeed I encountered some issues wih the previous uploads of HGBnG short and long. I've replaced them and even after that the stop & limit mode still didn't do what it was supposed to. That's why I switched to Hedged Stop Orders just now just to be sure.

Also testing this with OnlyCloseProfitablePositions = True as I'm hoping to trust on GridMaster's watchful eye to do its magic.

EDIT:
I'm attaching my HGBnG setfiles too. They aren't following the 10 LWMA on M1 though.

I just added 2 seperate GBPJPY charts for RAD trading only as well. Got this on non-hedged stop orders and SendImmediateTrade = True. Rest is the same. Of course have them on magic number 4 and 5 for long RADs and short RADs respectively so that GridMaster can take them under his wings as well.

How well did these cope with the move up this morning? I am very frustrated with my M5 HGBnG! I have just taken this off the live account (even though it is a cent account I want to trade it the same way I would if it contains all my savings and -6% in 2days would be enough for me to rethink). I will go it alone with RnR on this account until we figure out what continues to work with HGBnG.

Keeping the TrendRangeCombo demo going untouched as a comparison. Let's see if can bounce back.

Ahhh sorry to hear that mate.. Hope it works out with RnR. Hang in there !

I just checked my terminal and saw a sharp DD of 10% with gain on 5%. Then I noticed I had setup gridmaster 1.7 instead of gridmaster 1.5 yesterday night..

I'm not sure how much of a difference it would've made if gridmaster 1.5 were to be in place though. Reloaded GM 1.5 and will let this go hands-free over the weekend. I'll keep you posted.

Just received this PM and a light bulb went on (now this is no disrespect to NewGuy who posted the patched EA on Friday.. I should have tested before updating post 1 and this may not be the issue at all).

But I also realize that maybe I am complicating things too much trying to run a separate EA for buy and sell. So I have now updated post 1 with the original latest HGBnG from HGBnG thread and new set file to match. Also attached below:

So we only need 1 RnR chart, 1 HGBnG chart and 1 GridMaster chart. Simplest is usually best so hopefully this is a step back in the right direction.... let's see

Saw your remark on the Combo thread about HGBnG.
My results were pretty bad too, but I am wondering if this might the result be related to the code changes in the latest versions of HGBnG .
I only put HGBnG on my chart for the very first time this week. I used it as separate EA to learn its behavior. I first used the HGB from the Combo thread that was patched 160814 (with %27n in its name) and did not understand why it was taking short entries on a move up.
So I started a second chart with the latest from post 1. To me it this HGBnG appears to take trades differently.
I was going to use an earlier HGBnG from your thread next week to compare before making any stupid comments in the thread.
It is hard to keep up with all the different versions. I hope at least some will run the older stable version parallel to the new version for some weeks, to prove that code changes did not change behavior.
Anyway ....Might the the recent poor result be an unintended consequence due to coding changes?
