Saw your remark on the Combo thread about HGBnG.
My results were pretty bad too, but I am wondering if this might the result be related to the code changes in the latest versions of HGBnG .
I only put HGBnG on my chart for the very first time this week. I used it as separate EA to learn its behavior. I first used the HGB from the Combo thread that was patched 160814 (with %27n in its name) and did not understand why it was taking short entries on a move up.
So I started a second chart with the latest from post 1. To me it this HGBnG appears to take trades differently.
I was going to use an earlier HGBnG from your thread next week to compare before making any stupid comments in the thread.
It is hard to keep up with all the different versions. I hope at least some will run the older stable version parallel to the new version for some weeks, to prove that code changes did not change behavior.
Anyway ....Might the the recent poor result be an unintended consequence due to coding changes?
Yeah was suspecting something along these lines too. I'm going to setup an entire platform from scratch to be sure this time with the latest HGBnG.

Just realized I still had "Long" as the comment in the last set file I posted. I have corrected now but if you downloaded it you will need to change the comment to whatever you want. Since the one EA handles long and short now this might confuse when you load it.

I have been testing DottyBot and her MA this week as a replacement for HGBnG alongside RnR. It looks like it will hedge the breakouts a bit more progressively and require less account size. I like it because it does the job and is nice and simple to fine tune. Top marks to Steve and Pipcruiser for this one. Will update the set files over this weekend..

Ok here is the DottyBot and her MA setfile I am going to use this week. Running on M5 the idea is that it will bank pips where RnR gets into drawdown. I am using H4 12LWMA for direction... and this has made me look at RnR again. From last week I feel that using M1 10LWMA cuts too many trades from RnR and takes away it's profitability. Since H4 12LWMA has been working well with DottyBot perhaps we need the longer direction with RnR too. I need a bit more forward testing this week before confirming the right mix for post 1... stay tuned.

... ok this set file for DottyBot is doing quite well .. and I like it a lot... BUT .. with this set file it builds on the wrong side of a breakout just like RnR so it ain't much use hedging as I had hoped. Hence the jump in drawdown on this test account. I might have to rename this thread DoubleOrNothingCounterTrendCombo
I now realize this will always be the case where we have hedging and offsetting. These EA's are just doing what we tell them and they are banking pips as price moves so can't complain about that. Going to take a look at the new GridDancer next. Perhaps there is an answer there now that Rene has reversed the grid....

Manual trading using CSS and TDMTL... with a bit of RnR offsetting logic thrown in.
Funny thing is that I've had a few requests recently for my manual trading strategy (feel free to PM me and I'll send you what I have shared with others) so I was thinking about opening another thread for this then Bob beat me to it with the updated thread on CSS. So now I will just chip in there instead since there's not much difference and I only learned this way of trading thanks to Bob's posts over the years coupled with Steve's EA's. Great minds.
