Hey all...
Seems it's been quiet on this thread for a few days. I just finished reading through the thread myself.
I've been trading Remon's method 2 manually on a live account since June with good success. Stumbled across the thread here so was of course interested.
I've been trading 50 pip grids (have to going at it manually) primarily on EurGbp. I've just recently started on Remon's method 3 in order to reduce exposure and DD.
I personally offset same side trades even if there are only 3 open to reduce position exposure/margin and to prevent larger DD if price continues to move against those positions
I've also got some ideas about rebalancing the grid after trade closures but still testing those.
Look forward to hearing any different system strategies that are working.

Remon is just one individual. He set us off on a magnificent path, but has chosen to engage with us no further. SHF has some mega-brains aimed at the once train wreck of retail Forex trading. It is a train wreck no longer. Follow The Brains and you will benefit mightily.
And all of this is before we start talking about Bob's latest at http://www.stevehopwoodforex.com/phpBB3 ... 101&t=4888. This one has the potential to blow everything that came before right out of the water. You really need to keep up better, spy.

Don't close this thread please, my demo on v1o since July is very successful. I've started a live account since late Aug which is doing well too, though not as good as the demo.
This is another reliable ea other than hgb n dotty. I guess we can run both successfully.

I've just checked up on this thread and felt that a quick summary might help. The early posts explain the original idea and the subsequent development of the ea to trade this. Everything else from then on was an attempt to reduce the high dd that this method experiences and most of it didn't work! We had recovery mode, single sided offset, moving average filters etc but the original method still seemed to outperform in the long run. The only caveat is that the original on post 1 doesn't contain the trade closure patches that were posted by Pivotter and incorporated into EXPv1F.
Whilst this has produced some good results, please take account of the account size requirements as the DD on this thing can get very large!
My suggestion if you're just starting out with this EA is to look at its performance using the vEXPv1F but turn off - AllowComplexSingleSidedOffsets, UseRecoveryMode and UseMAFilter. This will give you the original bot.pivotter » Fri Aug 05, 2016 12:04 pm wrote: EXP 1E.patched was patched with code suggestions from the DottyBot thread, the unknown ticket problem is gone.

Bruster,
Thanks for the update. As I mentioned before I'm a new arrival to the thread. I've read it through but certainly haven't absorbed all the mods, etc. So I hope I'm not going over covered ground.
What I'm implementing on my manually trading is trying to rebalance the hedge as soon as I start closing profitable trades. In other words if I close a high profit buy with a low loss buy but have a larger number of sells in loss left, and price starts heading north again, I will open 2 orders at the next grid level instead of just the one. So I am replacing the low loss buy which just vacated that spot and also replacing the high profit buy position (albeit at a different spot). That should rebalance grid sooner and hopefully keep the DD under tighter control.
I could go into greater detail with examples if anyone is interested, but don't want to muddy the thread too bad if not.

I'd be interested to see the results if anyone else is prepared to step up to the plate but I'm just flagging now that this is beyond me both in terms of ability and time!

Hi there. It's an interesting idea you've got here but not an easy one to impliment - certainly with my coding ability. As I see it, the current code gives two challenges. There's no current way to "decide" whether the offset you've just done is sufficient - eg how many "gaps" there are between the profitable buy and the small loss buy. This means you wouldn't know when to apply this method. The other issue is that the grid is setup dynamically and not in advance. This means that the bot doesn't know which grid level it is at and you can't reference other grid levels. It would therefore be difficult to signal where/when you wanted to double up on the trades. If the grid levels were all asigned to an array and the bot was trading based on these pre-defined levels then I could see how this could be done but that's a complete re-write......

Well I'm certainly no coder myself, but I think the only "decision" the bot would make is whether or not there's a balance between open buys and sells, not about filling the price gaps. I would think that would be possible.
So say you had 5 buys and 5 sells. Price falls so the bot offsets the smallest losing buy with the biggest winning buy. Now there's only 3 buys open. Price turns around and starts heading up again. Now you have increased exposure on the short side. If price goes north to the next grid space the bot takes the normal buy position to fill the one that was just closed there and then adds another for the imbalance. Now you're 5 and 5 again. You can and will end up with more than one "buy" at the same level, but the total buys/sells will be in balance. Doesn't eliminate the DD to that point but should mitigate it from that point on.
