Hi Rene,

I would like to let you know that the dancers(1.1) are not respecting the trading hours from GM(1.8). I've set the GM trading hours from +08.00,-19.00 and/or +8.00,-19.00 , but the dancers are always showing that they are trading, could you please check it? Thank you in advance!

Just a brief intervention here.

You are describing code contributed by a genius, that has worked flawlessly and seamlessly for years and years.

Instead of assuming there is something wrong with the code, assume you are an idiot who has failed to make the inputs properly.

Post so stupidly again an you will lose your membership of SHF.

Capiche, dimwit?
Read the effing manual, ok?

Afterprime is the official SHF broker. Read about them at https://www.stevehopwoodforex.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?p=175790#p175790.

I still suffer from OCCD. Good thing, really.

Anyone here feeling generous? My paypal account is always in the market for a tiny donation. pianodoodler@hotmail.com is the account.

Hi Guys,

Just an update on my tests.

Unfortunately the daily timeframe has failed me horribly. If you catch the trend all great and you are guaranteed good pips, but where I failed was when price started turning. I just let it go without paying attention to regular rinse and repeats. I was bargaining on my 15 minute Grid dancer to carry the hedge trades and all went great up to a point.....until the leaky toilet became uncontrollable :arrrg: . 15 Minutes has performed very well by the way.

I am not giving up yet. Pips come in very fast when all goes in the right direction :good:
So here is how I am going to tackle it:
- Grid dancer on 4 Hr timeframe.
- Grid dancer on 15 minute timeframe'
- Reduce currency pairs in my tests.
- Small lot sizes.
- Regular rinse and repeats. Every hour or so.
- Hard stop loss of 50 pips. I would rather take a couple hundred pips knock in a session because when it goes right it is nothing to book 500 pips plus per day with this Ea.
- Implementing a jumpstop of 10 to 15 pips.
Edit: Js of 10 to 15 pips on the 15 min grid dancer and 20 to 30 pips on the 4 hr grid dancer.

Will keep you updated.

Cheers

Thanks Leon, for your update.

Also an update from me:

This is still the same demo account that was started on the 17th of October and described in this post. I left it totally alone and untouched, on a forgotten PC. This week it got out of a hole it dug for itself last week, and since then it has been adding more to the balance. These lengthy periods of drawdown are agonizing and add little to the equity and balance, so they must be avoided at all cost. I don't know if a tight EquitySL would be the answer, but it is worth a try.

Hello Rene,

Thanks so much for this great piece of art.

I just discovered this thread last Friday. I have known about HGI for sometime and have known it to be a great indicator (if you know how to make a good use of it).
I set up the HGI Dancer to test from Tuesday an hour after daily candle start and here's my result so far with a $200 demo account on 16 pairs. I changed only the lotsize to 0.01

I want to make a suggestion for development if possible. I think it will be a good idea to have an option where we can choose NOT to close trades with basket TP. Instead, trades on each symbol (pair) should be closed only when there's an opposite signal (Trend arrow, Range arrow, Range wave) on that pair.

Thanks.
MM

Hi guys,

Thanks to all those who have developed and supported this excellent thread and the GD & GM EA's.

I believe this is an excellent set of EA's to work with Bobs HGI. It allows us to trade low risk with great upside. The key in my view is how to manage risk so we can trade this model over the long term and grow small compounded profits with relatively low risk. I will put my spin on risk management with this strategy in another post. But i have a question regarding the EA functions.

I have started the testing on a demo yesterday. I was watching it live just now and noticed the spike up on the GBPUSD and subsequently watched it hit the Equity TP ($50) but as it did so the price dropped away quickly and only a few of the trades had time to close out. Then as price dropped back to previous step levels the grid dancer for the GBP then added additional positions to those already open (still open) positions.

I assume the EA's are working correctly and the delay in closure was/is due to the MasterTimer Seconds - which I have as 10 seconds...? And so the timer restricts the contract closure to occur only for the Equity TP when the EA does its check...?

Is it possible to stop it from adding trades to steps that already have open positions? (The new additional trades were a few pips off from the existing open trades as the ATR had widened so the step gap had increased).

Or have the EA's been designed to do this on purpose?

I trust this makes sense.

Thanks for your help.

I later edited my last post with this suggestion but i'm re-posting it just in case Rene didn't notice it.

Hi Rene,

And thank you for bringing all this to us :good: Excellent recovery on your test set. Yes, will see with the tight s/loss so far so good today with 100 pips in the bag and all trades closed. I have re-opened for New york and keen to see how this session goes..

Hi MM good results Buddy and keep us posted .. :good:

Hi Timmy glad to have you on board as well...more ideas and brainstorming will be good for all of us.

Cheers

First of, this is not the way GM/GD was designed.

GridDancer opens trades, if/when a new grid level is reached and in the direction of the most recent HGI signal.
GridMaster closes trades, if/when a BasketTP and/or EquityTP/EquitySL has been reached. GridMaster doesn't look at HGI-signals, it is just a smart multi-symbol trade manager that tries to keep the drawdown manageable (but doesn't always succeed with this).

Secondly, we can alter GridMaster so that it does look at HGI-signals and ignores BasketTP and EquitySL ... but this is a totally different concept. It would make more sense (if we wanted to do this), to (1) get rid of GridMaster and (2) alter GridDancer to close its own (SingleSymbolMultiTrade) basket if/when the HGI-signal reverses. GridDancer would be a standalone single-symbol EA, much like one of the HGB EAs Steve has created.

Don't get me wrong: I don't want to discourage people from posting suggestions for improvements to this combo. Indeed, I am constantly looking to curb the inherent drawdown we are getting with this strategy, as I believe this has so much potential. But I don't think we should walk into avenues that have been walked in before.
