HGI

Been using HGI as a trading aid/guide for a number of months now and noticed something very interesting.

From what I understand, HGI is based off of indicators like TMA Slope, 60/240MA, etc.

Every time it paints a Trend arrow, I notice the price reacts within seconds of that arrow in the correct direction. It might be short lived (i.e. few seconds to a minute), but more often then not it moves a good 5-10pips in that direction every time!

Anyone else notice that? Maybe I've just been smoking too much MQL4 lately...

Thats' interesting. On which time-frame have you noticed this?

Usually on M15, but that's what I trade on mostly, so it might happen on other TF's as well.

I get a popup alert from HGI, then as soon as I go to look it moves 5pips+ within seconds. It often retraces afterwards, etc, but that initial few seconds is interesting to watch.

It doesn't make sense based on the indicators used in HGI, but then again, bob and the HGI team have some "secrets" in the code as well

you can ignore this, it is only used, when the indicator is is used as custom indicator in an EA

Another question: when the wavy lines appear I usually wait for the candle to close and then I reload my template. When the wavy lines disappear I ignore them, when they remain I close my trades. My reasoning is that since the market is constant changing, if the wavy line remains after the candle close the market conditions are still valid. If it disappears the market conditions changed enough and the signal could be ignored. Is my logic faulty, or should I immediately act on every signal?

You will with your metod for sure miss some valid signal, but on the other hand you will trade more stable only valid signals.
You should test both variants forward on demo that will give you an answer what will create better results..

Empty4 will only not be updated what is better, so but it will be present as so far as there is no interest for MT5 , read too there http://www.stevehopwoodforex.com/phpBB3 ... 86#p149486
But if it would be needed, yes I will update it for MT5 or other platform, no problem, so you can always sleep well, with no nightmares...

use v16.09 attached to first post..
The colors you have to adapt yourself..
The templates are outdated and will not work any longer you must create your own template.
