CrapperQuotes broke the HGI library?

Hello Everybody,

So I was just playing with some bits and pieces in the editor and realised I was unable to call getHGIsignal from the HGI library.
After a few quick checks I decided to try and compile the HGI matrix from Renexxx. Same thing! There's a screen shot below to show the error.

After looking at the documentation it now seems function imports have to be stated explicitly now. Which would get done in the include (.mqh) as that's where the functions are actually included (and the end user imports the include file). However I can't seem to work it out. Hopefully it doesn't have anything with the way that the library returns the function call result.

If someone could have a look that would be great. If they've proper broken things then one of the folks with access to the library code will have to get involved.

Hi BobbyT,

Try this mqh file, it compiles and returns HGI signals for my EA.

It looks like there is a typo in yours.

Hi Gary,

Haha yeah, that 'typo' was my doing. But that was left there after I was tinkering trying to get it work.

Then if you close the import call with another #import then you get the first set of errors.

I'm not sure what would cause that error. I downloaded the HGIMatrixMTFv33L.mq4 file from post #1 and it compiled and worked on a chart. Did you add any edits to the mqh file from my post? If so, try it without those edits.

What version of Empty4/MTeditor are you running?

I have Oanda build 1012 & 1395.

I just added HGI to an Ea and followed the example by renexxxx and it works like a charm.

I just noticed that the mq4 file you posted is different compared to the mq4 file that produced the error... myHGI_2_1L.mq4. If you can post this file I'll take a look and see if I can get it working.

Well this is embarassing. Looks like you were right on the money. I'd made some mod to the mqh file then managed to either make the same one to the one you uploaded or used my version instead of yours

Who knew alcohol and code were a bad combination (*cough* steve *cough*)

Well it seems I spoke too soon. And I've tracked down the issue. Shit just got real!!!!

So I have recently migrated all my terminals to /portable to stop them from sucking up my SSD with chart data.

It seems that even though the installs have been made portable and 'all the appropriate files have been moved', upon code compilation, MetaEditor still placed the ex4 in the original roaming directory.

Now I would have thought that with both the terminal and the editor pointing at the install directory and not the roaming directory that the editor would place compiled files in the install directory (you know, where it's actually running from.

I can't find anything in the editor options and can't find an editable config file to check there for some stray settings.
I guess the question now is, do you, or anyone else for that matter, know how to force MetaEditor to compile to the install directory? I would have though a /portable tag would work here too but not sure how to apply it to the terminal hotkey. I would like to avoid having to fully uninstall/reinstall. It took me 2 hours just to move everything this morning. And now the markets are open
