CSS WITH HGI & SUPER CSS

Post by DerPat »

Hi Wavegarrick and others interested,

as I wanted to do charting on currency strength and I usually do charting on candle stick charts, I was not happy with the current solution. Close line charts are harder to "predict" for me. I found a way to create candle stick currency strength charts with a lookback period of years on tradingview. Then I also found a way to weight the respective currency pair by 200sma volume of a big US retail broker. The figures they provide have to be wrong, but I guess the volume information on a relative term can be correct. I guess the charts I now use are more accurate. Looking back to the last week, my estimations would have been clearer and faster. I started my work from scratch and now use a working document in dropbox to do my daily estimations. I do not feel like I should be longer on this thread, as it is about Baluda CSS and HGI and I now use not one of them. However, they fast forwarded my mind to a new level (hope it is a good one).

If you are not able to open the link below, please let me know. IT worked at my end.

Thank you again Nanningbob for the way you helped me to understand currencies.
Is it possible to post some trade entries with your analysis,if and when you get a signal?
Some examples I did last week (All on the daily chart and demo. I am still testing my ability to read currency strength and chart patterns together.):
AUD/JPY Short:
Entry on: 21.10.2016, Stop above the Pin +5 pips, Target slightly above the 76,4 support.
Still running, as we got a sideway move there. I entered because of the strong resistance and the pin bar pointing downwards. At the currency strength chart we got a strong rejection at AUD resistance and Support for JPY. I did not know that JPY forms a wedge, which I now know from the new charts. I woldn't have entered. Breakout could be in any direction for JPY, so getting stoped out is now a valid conclusion. I will close it with small profit on Monday.

GBP/AUD Long:
Entry on 20.10.2016, Stop below the consolidation, Target 1R
Still running, was meant as a week long lasting trading, as I expected further short term weakness of AUD and further short term strength of GBP. Candle stick patterns were ok, could have been better, but I thought on the short term, it is ok. Still valid.

Open Date Close date
10.18.2016 06:36 10.19.2016 20:42 EURNZD Sell
Did half of the last weeks short move and exited at support. Currency Strength and Candle Sticks in my favor.

Fast Forward:
Open Date Close date
10.18.2016 06:40 10.19.2016 10:04 CADJPY Buy (Take Profit)
10.12.2016 08:15 10.19.2016 06:49 EURUSD Sell (Take Profit)
10.18.2016 06:38 10.18.2016 13:39 NZDCHF Buy (Take Profit)
10.13.2016 21:54 10.18.2016 13:30 CADCHF Buy (Take Profit)
10.10.2016 21:49 10.18.2016 04:03 AUDUSD Sell (Stop Loss - wrong reading of CSS)
10.13.2016 21:45 10.18.2016 00:45 NZDUSD Sell (Stop Loss - wrong reading of CSS)
10.17.2016 06:06 10.18.2016 00:44 NZDCAD Sell (Stop Loss - wrong reading of CSS)
10.13.2016 22:03 10.17.2016 07:24 EURCHF Sell (Take Profit)

As I have an R > 1, it was a profitable week.

I do not know if I am allowed to start a new thread which will discuss analysis not made in meta trader and has nothing to do with automated or half automated indicators?

Best,
Patrick

Dear Patrick,
Thanks for publishing this, I have followed all week, the dropbox summary analysis and use of CSS are very interesting and could, as you say, be a new thread, see what Steve says.

I started a threat here http://www.stevehopwoodforex.com/phpBB3 ... =16&t=4964 and will document my analysis on Currency Strength Candle Stick Charts as long as it stays alive and we need more data points.

The post was inappropriate, so I have deleted it. My analysis was not doing justice to the excellent CSS indicator.

Curiously, I sent you a "Fun" PM at 08.40 gmt from UK but it looks as if you didn't get it. I returned just now and a VERY curious thing had happened. I will put it together and send you another observation...basically, you were doing EXTREMELY well until I sent you my message - and then it seems it all went t's up. I just need a cuppa right now!!. 4th

Hi nanningbob and other traders,
Please forgive my grammar. English is my second language, so I am not very polished in English grammar.

I have read this thread and spend some good time the last two weeks looking at the CSS indicator and I really like the way it helps you to trade. I still have a lot to learn, but currently trading demo and doing well enough.

I do have the following questions and I hope they are not deemed stupid:
1) I worked through the HGI thread and the advice was to close a position when an opposite wavy line appears. I know nanningbob has several exiting strategies (few hours into trading, whenever he likes the number of pips etc). I just want to know if you still close a trade when the wavy lines appear? i.e. do you still use the HGI strategy rules, but only use the CSS to filter up and down trades.

2) I saw earlier in this post that you sometimes trade different timeframes, not just 4 hours. If you get a signal on say the 4H TF and you open a trade and a few hours later you get a signal on the 1H TF, do you also enter another trade on the 1H? If you do enter another trade, do you close both when, say a wavy lines appears on one TF? Or do you close the respective trades, say the 1H only when a wavy line appears on the 1H while keeping the 4H trade open until the 4H chart give a signal, and vice versa?

Thanks,

I look forward to hear from you.

I have seen that during the past couple months no one analyzes CSS. I really enjoyed Bob's weekly analysis as well as his trade log (mostly because it helps me learn and also motivates me when I see how profitable he is) so would like to kindly ask you Bob to continue analyzing CSS and if possible post your trade log as well.
