HGI for beginners.
personally i don't trade lower than 4 hr time frame i think i read it somewhere in the thread that it will give you a lot false signal. i'm demo testing 4hr time frame on VPS and daily on my PC. daily candlestick open 6 AM for me so before i sleep i let my laptop run and let the HGI calculate for the 4hr chart i can open it while i'm working. HGI was built around the 4H TF. It is where the strength of the move is established and when done so it will usually remain. 30M is too subject to reversals against the main strength of a currency. If you use 30 M chart you should only trade in the direction using CSS daily reads. Trade in the direction of the prevailing trend or strength of a move to get your best results.

There is some difference between HGI and 10.xx theory of what a range is. 10.xx theory states when price touches the 60 240 MA lines you are heading into range or reversal territory. HGI uses CSS strength/weakness to determine range or reversal areas. 60/240 won't predict a range or pause time during a strong trend whereby HGI will. Also while price is inside 60/240 HGI will pick up a strong move coming because of increasing strength of a currency before it heads out of 60/240 lines. So HGI is more sensitive to change than two MA lines. Another example is if you have HGI set to 24 currencies and uses 6 of each major currency to measure a currencies strength 4 may have broken into a trend and two may not. So HGI picks up the strength of a currency overall but on two crosses of that currency may not or won't join in the move. 60/240 will show these two have not moved yet or won't while the other 4 will move into a trend. So each has its strength and weaknesses when used in trading. Hope this helps.

Whoa there!! Indicators are nice to use but you need to know what's going on in the market. If you trade 4H charts and it's 8 am EST USA time, the new candle forms. 30 minutes later USA session opens and the action begins. If you wait 3.5 hours for the candle to close you miss the move. When those arrows show up is just as important as why? An arrow popping up between the JPY session and the Euro open may not mean much while an arrow popping up two hours into the Euro open maybe the move of the day. Why wait two more hours until candle close when the move is done??hey mate i noticed that if big trend arrow show up you must wait for Candlestick fully closed first. for the example if the big sell trend arrow show up and the candlestick somehow become bullish candle the arrow will disappear if you change the time frame but if it's still forming and going to the sell direction it will stayed there even if you change the time frame.
my advise is you should wait for candlestick fully closed first as a confirmation
This is what why one person can use this indi and hit 80% win rate with hundreds of pips and another can lose for the day wondering what they did wrong. I often trade the first two hours of a session and close trades 3-4 hours in. I catch the move or wave of that period. It's also why I almost never trade a non-Asian cross during the JPY session. Know your session times and what time market open moves and news stories normally runs is key to trading more than a trading style. It's why I probably could trade HGI on a 30M chart and make money where another person could take the same indi and lose. We both could trade the same day with the same indi and have totally different results. Nothing replaces experience in knowing the Forex market when they open/close and where movement happens.
It's also why I can take almost any indi and be a winning trader.

HGI for beginners.
Hi there,
I still want to understand what the entry conditions of the (big) arrows in HGI are. I know HGI is based on TMA Slope and it's repainting (got no problem with this), but what triggers the arrow?
I remember that NanningBob mentioned somewhere that the steepness of the "angle" is relevant for signals. But for my understanding it can be only a value or a difference, when TMA Slope jumps over or below the 0.4 / 0.8 level.
I've checked already the forum and the pdf's but couldn't find a suitable answer on this.
Thanks&Regards, Coli

Nor will you. It is a trade secret and the reason Bob only allows the release of date-limited compiled code. Some bastard would be selling it on Ebay within minutes of him releasing either the source code or the rationale behind the signals.Coli » Wed Mar 15, 2017 2:41 pm wrote:Hi there,

First post here after reading all (ok, most) of the thread. I like HGI as it gives me an idea of what price action is doing, a kind of stabiliser. But, I mostly trade daily time frame, and try to enter where there is strong price momentum to continue the move to TP. I know there was a very similar question asked above about waiting until the bar closes, but as a conservative trader looking to enter on strong momentum wouldn't it be reasonable to wait until bar closes, quickly refresh charts and if the signal is still there on HGI confirming the move (blue wavy or large arrow) then enter the trade? I know this takes initial pips off the table, but seems worth to confirm the entry?
Cheers
