I have read that blog on building a millepede twice over, loved it very much. Brilliant stuff.

I totally love the concept of slowly building the a/c and not looking for get rich quick schemes. I think thats why the above appealed to me. Any insights would be handy so I ,we, others can cut to the chase....preferably, then look to expand further.

PS I found a PDF about flying buddas in the millepede thread. It refers to a JOE.....MMMMM......could that be you ?? Having a study of now.. "

Thanks for your message and those threads are good background reading for sure although I am not the Joe mentioned there.

What I am doing is slightly different as I am trying to capitalize on the fact that the FB is not an accurate directional indicator but it is very good at highlighting areas where price will break out from.. we just don't know which way with any certainty ..and that is one of the reaons why most people that have tried building an equity millipede have failed.

Placing a grid of buys AND sells overcomes this problem as it no longer matters which way price goes.. and the only problem that is created instead is that this strategy will take small losses when the markets are ranging. But we can use range trading strategies to balance that out seperately.

For now lets concentrate on placing the grids and if you use the FBG set file I posted along with the Greedy Wotsit EA in post 1 then the EA will just run in the background to cash out and stop trading if there is a big price spike/black swan which is our protection with this strategy and the on chart buttons can be used to place trades manualy after each day's market open.

Thanks to Thomas, we are close to having the basic code watertight. Thomas thinks there are still a couple of thingies not working properly but he is close to the finishing line. I shall be re-issuing all the flavours of Dottybot and HGBnD once we are there.

Would a Dottybot 'n Greedy Wotsit be a help?

Ok. Nothing is going to happen immediately but you have stuck with GW for nearly a year in its present form, so I guess a few more weeks will not matter.

There is a fresh V1 of GW in post 2. Porting the relevant code into the HGBnD shell was not so easy - a number of variable names were different, for example, and some of the HGBnD functions needed some adaptation/deletion.

It is possible that I have missed something out. I have it running on an M15 chart and it appears to be behaving appropriately, but sing out if there is something missing from the old version.

Just in case thingies are totally ballsed up, I have put a "Greedy Wotsit old" in post 2. This is the version that you have all been using; I downloaded it from post 2 this morning and renamed it, so we can always go back if need be.

Somebody mentioned a moving average a few posts ago. Easy to add. What for?

Candle close across 5ema as optional filter so that a new grid is only sent if the previous candle closed across 5ema on the trading timeframe.

Yes exactly. I have found this to work very well on D1 charts.

Done and uploaded to post 2 - took 5 minutes. The moving average inputs are underneath the HGI inputs.
