EURGBP sent a sell trade on one demo and said that Sixths could trade short, but the other demo sent no trade and said that Sixths couldn't be traded. Hmmm..... Since the only difference was the recovery stuff, I knew I had to have inadvertently set something different on the two demos.
So, for those of you testing, I had accidentally left DIAD trading set to true on the set of demos that sent the trade. I don't why or how it affects the Sixths trade-able setting, but if definitely did for me. A lot of pairs said they were trade-able short even though price was way up near the top sixths line. Other pairs seemed just fine. EURGBP was just outside of the trade-able range and technically shouldn't have sent a trade, but I'll leave the trade going now that it started.
Steve, I thought maybe I would find something about the DIAD trading in the Dotty user's guide to understand what it was trying to do, but for me the link in post 1 is broken and no longer brings it up.
If anyone has a link to a user's guide with the DIAD setting, I'll use it as a chance to learn something, although I definitely won't be using it in my testing.
Thanks!

Will do. Thanks.
As I thought about it more, I think it was probably only causing problems if tradeonlythemiddle was set to true.

... promising first week for this combo without any conflicts or errors running two charts per pair. Overall HGBnDnSSnFB is in profit and Peaky in drawdown. The only pair with a trade on both so far is EURGBP and this is hedged perfectly. If both can end up in profit then that is the whole idea and will be awesome!TraderJoeForex » Sun Jul 02, 2017 5:56 pm wrote:
I will setup tonight and iron out any creases this week and if this all runs together ok I will open a new thread for next week for HGBnDnSSnFB Vs Peaky. Of course it's not a competition between the two.. the idea is that they will compliment and protect each other to bank more pips more of the time
In the meantime I will setup a new thread this weekend specifically for this combo.. for those that remember my efforts with TrendRangeCombo last year this is essentially the sequel:
A (monthly) range trading EA - Peaky on H1 and a Trend trading EA - HGBnDnSSnFB on H1 (without Sixths). I will include all the set files I am using for both which are tailored to D1 ATR for each pair to try keep risk balanced across 15pairs. I will post a link here once done.
Happy Weekend!

HI gang,
I extended my week 1 testing. Trade comments got messed up, so I'll give you the recap and try to straighten it all out for next week.
I have four sets of demos, each running with the same 16 pairs. All are set to No Grid. All are set to only trade a pair twice (this is a new filter I didn't use last month in testing)
I closed all trades 1 hour after the London close Friday. I meant to mimic real life and close the trades on Thursday EOD, rather than let them run through the U.S. NFP, but I forgot to do so. If I had done that, the first two would have been around break even, and the last two would have been up over 200 pips each. A fair difference on just a few trades.
1. Recovery - No, Hi-Lo - Yes -73 pips
2. Recovery - Yes, Hi-Lo - Yes - 73 pips
3. Recovery - No, Hi-Lo - No + 128 pips
4. Recovery - Yes, Hi-Lo - No + 122 pips
Numbers 1 & 2 both had only three trades each for the week. Numbers 3 & 4 had six trades each. Not a lot of activity, but I'm fine with that.
Since I'm trading in the middle, I want to see how the Buy Hi, Sell Low setting works in conjunction with it. Hi-Lo set to false did better this week, but it will be interesting to see how it plays out over a month's time.
Have a great weekend!

Following with interest. In theory using Hi Low means the EA will be trading in the same direction as Peaky just with different trigger (FB/SS signal rather than x pips inside that Sixths trigger line). Without Hi Lo then Superslope decides the direction. Running both together should be similar in effect to what I am trying with HGBnSSnFB/Peaky so will be very interesting to compare as the month develops.cozybooks » Fri Jul 07, 2017 7:23 pm wrote:HI gang,

I feel a new EA coming upon me. Send me a spec if you come to some firm conclusions. Combining two EA's is much harder than people imagine, so it needs to be a new beastie with a fresh spec.TraderJoeForex » Fri Jul 07, 2017 6:37 pm wrote:

Mind, it will need a more pithy name than we have at the mo. HolyGrailyBob'nDottybot'nSuperSlope'nFlyingBuddha'nPeaky is starting to get a tad on the ridiculous side, even when abbreviated.
How about "Awesome"? Or, if you fancy a bit of non-sexist hyperbole, "Its Royal Highnessnessnessness Awesomenessnessnes"? Abbreviation IRH?

In the meantime I have spawned a sequel to TrendRangeCombo using Peaky and HGBnDnSSnFB here. http://www.stevehopwoodforex.com/phpBB3 ... 06#p154706
This should keep me busy until IRH then..

I have been quietly testing HGBnDnSSnFB on H4 in the background and have optimized these set files accordingly. The highlights are:
240 periods for Buy Low Sell High on BOTH H4 and D1 - so in theory we are taking sell trades towards the top of the monthly range only when the yearly cycle is down and buy trades towards the bottom of the monthly range only when the yearly cycle is up.
Trading from extremes and in the middle allowed (only in direction of D1 Superslope)
Smaller grid of 3 to scale in spaced 1ATR (H4) apart.
Basket TP 3 x ATR
SL 2 x ATR
JS 1 x ATR
Here are some set files for the 6 pairs I am testing with a view to going live.

Hey TJF,
Thanks for taking the time to post these, not to mention the time to set them all up in the first place.
It's hard keeping up with you!

You are welcome. The way I see it all our testing on H1 showed us how all the different settings and options worked together and have enabled some decent results trading in a similar way to when I started trading this way manually also highlighting some benefits to using a grid to scale in rather than single entries. It would have taken far longer to come to the same conclusions just testing H4 from the start. However using H4 Flying Buddha as a trigger rather than H1 should be more accurate in the long run and now that I have been able to evaluate a few trades taken with the above setup the entries are very encouraging.cozybooks » Wed Jul 12, 2017 2:24 am wrote:Hey TJF,

It was clever of Steve to include the option for higher timeframe Peak HiLo. 240 periods on D1 is quite a long view, roughly one year of trading days. And 240 on H4 is 40 trading days.
