Those of you that DL'd the set file, let me know how the testing goes. My email is in the top of the code in the indicator.

Good luck all! And hoping for many pip's to find their way into your account.

monty,

In the first post is update 1.3. It contains a FontSizeStrength = 7 setting, try 8. And you may want to decrease FontSizeGrid from 7 to 6 or turn ShowStrengths = false.

Dwain

PS .. when you make all of those pips .. maybe you could buy me and you a new monitor?
Sure. A new monitor on my list.

Thank you. :yahoo:

I noticed that when the grid is mostly one color .. you had better have a position open in that direction .. So I did some testing with what I call the "Big Picture" reading. I REALLY like what I'm seeing! So, here it is, a new reading added. Begin and End Big Picture timeframe setting has been added. I found the best setting is the whole grid .. M1 - MN1. Update in post 1.

Also, to those of you following this thread. Bonus time with an EA I thru together today. I think you are going to like this one .. a lot. Steady profit with extremely low DD. It needs to be optimized for each pair.

EDIT: When optimizing the EA, use the M1 period so that all timeframes will be available to the EA. You can use the "Open prices only" model to speed things up.

Optimize:

BigPictureOpen 20-100
BigPictureClose 1-20
StrengthTotal 50-500

Hi Dap711,

There is an error on lot size specification, I entered to be traded at 0.01 but it opens out with 0.1 lot size.

Hi Dwain

Thanks again for your efforts to produce this indicator and EA.

I've been testing it over the last day or so and the results have been interesting.

What I've seen is that it makes some good profits but then hands a lot of them back.

I have thought of an idea which might be successful if it could be implemented. Could you code a floating equity close? Ie if the floating profit gets to a certain amount all of the open trades are closed. Then once all of the trades are closed the EA checks again for trades that meet the criteria to be opened.

What do you think?

Also I forgot to ask. How is the big picture number calculated? And what is decrease factor?

What settings have you been using?

I have been testing:

Big picture open: 30

Big picture close: 10

Strength total: 140

Hello Alexd10 and All,

You are more than welcome for the proof of concept in the development of a new strategy, indicator, and toy. However, I have lost my desire to continue sharing my ideas. Isn't a forum a place for open discussion of ideas and a collective of intelligence? I just don't understand why a difference in approach or opinion is so threating. Is there room for debate here? Room for difference in opinion? As I'm a team player and don't rock boats, I also know artists and creative thinkers can't be boxed in. I don't understand why it has to be so hard to share but I do understand that rules are good. This is Steve's forum and he makes the rules. It is my fault for not understanding all of the rules before I started the thread.

Love you guys and this site, and may the Lord bless each and everyone of you.

PS. Some interesting things about crappy tester most people don't know. If you run the optimizer/tester on M1 you will have access to all timeframes in your EA. (My indicator will prove it) If you code to candle openings in an indicator/EA, you don't need to use the tick model. If your broker offers fixed spreads, the results from the tester aren't as bad as everyone thinks. (Ask the people that are running the deleted set file I generated from the tester.) The results won't be perfect and may even be crap but at the least they give you a starting point for forward testing. All of this I learned by having an open mind when using tester. "Hating something will prevent you from bringing out the good qualities in it." My opinion. Hate and even love will always prevent you from seeing truth in a technical aspect, so they should both be left at the door as a coder. And that's 30 years of coding experience talking.

Hi Dwain.

Thank you for sharing your idea, and putting it into an EA.

I've been running it since 25th otb, with the aid of MPTM.break even after 25 pips , from frankfurt time till 17.00 gmt.

It has been doing very well.

We all appreciate your intellectual work and input, and hope you will carry on with 9X9 super CSS indicator forum, and letting us to benefit from your brilliant work. :youknow:

Monty,

You are more than welcome for the share. I have continued the work on 9x9 and have found even more secrets .. only the first column of 9x9 is needed in the EA. I found it by using the back tester. Imagine that. I gave settings for dividing the grid by row, I have added new settings which now divide by column with even more amazing results. My next step is to analyze other indicators to produce a consistent exit point on open trades. This is how the west was won .. hard work and an open mind.

Because no indicator can predict future price, my plan is to develop an indicator that produces the best possible data to feed MathLab for pattern recognition or to R for frequency analysis. And you thought the grid was just a bunch of pretty lights .. I know in my heart that this is the only way to make substantial profit from the market without having to sit and watch every move the market makes. I have the experience in IT to achieve this goal and will be taking the long hard road to make it reality. Something I can give to my kids and grandkids. What a gift it will be ..

If I'm not banned for using "unapproved" tools .. I'll share an updated EA put into one of Steve's amazing shells.
