Hey Baluda,
Please look at EU chart with slope strength indi (for that pair only) on it. When does it make sense to go long or short EU. The indi is confusing me with signals. Should I be using D1 or H4 slope timing?

Re: Baluda Slope Strength auto-trader
Dude this sounds great and it makes perfect sense. I think someone should code up an indicator that shows how wide the gap is between the two and when it starts contracting you know it's time to watch out as a trend change may be in effect. I like the idea of buying/selling above/below .8 as well.Zypip wrote:So what I was (humbly) proposing is for the EA to enter a trade whenever the distance between 2 slope strength lines is greater than 0.8 and rising (not decreasing). I thought the pic attached in my earlier post was explicit enough but I guess this was only happening in my head![]()
Here is a simple example:
Say that the slope strengh for JPY (using Beluda calculation of course) is +0.70 and the slope strength for GBP is say -0.10. The absolute difference in value between the 2 is +0.80 (+0.70 minus -0.10) so that this pair becomes tradable.
Then say that slope strength for JPY was also +0.70 yesterday and slope strength for GBP was +0.10 so that the absolute difference was 0.60 (+0.70 minus +0.10), the gap between slope strength is therefore increasing so that the EA should enter a trade.
Conversely, say that slope strength for JPY was also +0.70 yesterday and slope strength for GBP was -0.20 so that the absolute difference was 0.90 (+0.70 minus -0.20), the gap between slope strength is therefore decreasing so that the EA should NOT enter a trade.
I keep telling myself that this is a reasonable good idea but if you more experienced traders/coders think is not, then I will of course stand down and go quietly![]()
Cheers,
Zypip
I'm going to add the currency slope strength indicator to each of my charts for analysis.
Cheers!

Spot, Jemook, thank you for considering my ideas and commenting on them, this means a lot
Hope Paul and/or Steve can spare some time to implement it into Baluda
Cheers

Re: Baluda Slope Strength auto-trader
I suggest we add following filter in all EAs being developed:
Look at Baluda's currency slope strength indi (on H4 chart with indi also H4 tf) and see if the strong currency is above zero line and weak one is still below it. If both on same side avoid taking any trade there.
Close trade when weak one gets above zero line or strong one gets below zero line.
For now looked at EU and EA and it makes sense there.

I will look into this tomorrow. It shouldn't be too hard to code.

This morning Baluda was hitting a nice profit on the 2 pairs it was trading.
I just think this system is great. It is powerful and SIMPLE which I believe it very important because from the reading of the different threads here and on FF and others, each time a good starting idea has been overly "improved", it ended up failling/bugging etc...
What I am trying to say is: this EA is great and does not need to be improved per se. I just think that if we can time the entry better it will simply remove the frustration of the trade hitting a big DD before being profitable.
As proposed in my earlier posts I believe that one way of doing this is with the simple following rule:
- enter whenever 2 currency slope strength lines are diverging and the divergence value goes above 0.8 (or 0.4)
- exit whenever the divergence value goes back below 0.8 (or 0.4).
This way things are kept simple so that the risk for bugs and glitches is reduced.
Paul, thank again for the EA, it has been running like a charm

I repeat that the slope strength may be calculating incorrect values when some brokers do not offer prices for all pairs
The zero values are being included in the average calculation

I agree. What I've learnt quite recently is that it is better to adapt your crim to your EA than the EA to your crim..... that is what I do now...

This is why the 'symbolsToWeigh' user setting is still there, Alternatively, you can set 'autoSymbols' to true. The indicator will then get alle the symbols that are in the Market Place window. Keep in mind that you can show/hide symbols from the Market Place window.
