The Awesome Basket Forward Test

I just noticed somehow I had the first version of Awesome running on M1H4 so can't count it's results unfortunately

However M1M5M15H1 produced a small but noticeable improvement over just the M1 set with both increased profit and reduced drawdown although this was from M5 and M15. H1 was negative. So I think just running M1M5M15H1 alongside my M1 control moving forwards is sufficient to prove the point of whether MTF adds any benefit and perhaps just M1M5M15 will be best but too early to draw conclusions. We can always explore the various combinations of MTF in a further test once we have finished this one.

Has anyone tried changing the minimum distance between trades? I think it's set by MinimumDistanceBetweenSignalsPips, default 10, located in the Trading inputs section directly under Flying Buddha inputs. I think it's meant to be for each TF, so you could have M1 trades separated by 10 pips, and a separate set of M5 trades separated by 10 pips, etc.

That all seems too crowded to me, and so I'd like to try spacing the trades out more. I used these settings:
TradeEverySignal=true
MaxSignalsToFollow=10
MinimumDistanceBeteenSignalsPips=20
Use%=false

I thought it had worked when I saw uj M1 trades separated by 20 pips, but after that M1 trades on other pairs are being taken every 10 pips. If anyone has achieved what I'm trying to do, can you point me in the right direction please?

There are two ways to approach this:

If you want to use TradeEverySignal=true then Awesome will only add trades on each new FB signal and the MinimumDistanceBetweenSignalPips is the minimum distance price must travel against the original position for a new signal to be considered.

In our testing here we have TradeEverySignal = false so this section is not used for these lower timeframe basket sets. Although on higher timeframes this approach may be best.

We are using FillTheGap inputs for recovery trades to be added and this is set by: FollowAdverseMarketWithStopOrders = true.
MarketDistancePips is the distance price must travel for a stop order to be added calculated as MarketDistancePips/2.

In this way if you set MarketDistancePips to 100 then you will get a new stop added every 50pips as price travels against the original position. We are using 20/2 = 10pips which as you say is a bit tight however it serves its purpose for our initial tests.

We will be looking at testing different values for this once we have chosen a base set file from this first round of testing. So if you are going to setup some tests to experiment with this do let us know how you get on.

So i test : m1-m5-m15 and with recovery for each basket.

So far i have a drawdown, the recovery is on the way, but she tells me there's a lot of traffic on the road.

This week M1M5M15H1 no recovery kept moving forwards nicely despite some hefty drawdown at the start of the week and despite H1 still failing to contribute positively. This account is pretty much flat for the weekend whereas M1basket no recovery has got badly stuck. This makes sense because the extra timeframes will be providing enough new trades to help the basket climb out of drawdown.. whereas once M1 has reached it's limit it can't do much without individual recovery.

I am thinking it will be worthwhile for me to restart 2 tests next week now..

M1M5M15M30 with and without recovery since these seem to be the optimal timeframes and it will be good to have a recovery / non recovery test back to back with the same multi timeframes.

From what I can see of everyone's myfxbook tests £5 TP seems better than £1 or £3 so far and +ve swap true much lower drawdown relative to profit than false.

We are making progress....
