EA's inspired by nanningbob's work here, especially those based on his 240 Moving Average trend detection filter.

Just wanted to report my 1 month data for HGBDSSFB which I am trading a bit different to others

I have set it up so that it only takes single trades when the 1W & 1D CSS are in agreement and there is a FB signal on H1. {HGBFB CSS 1D1W_1HFB.set}

I then use MPTM to set the TP and SL on each individual pair at 2.5ATR (Daily) {MPTM 3SL basket.set}

I also have MPTM set so that the Basket TP is 3% and the SL is 3%.

The idea is that the SL and TP on each pair are wide enough to give the trade room to move and it only closes if it hits the 2.5ATR TP or SL (Note: it takes quite a few days close each trade).

The 3% basket SL is there so that if a number of positions reverse all trades are closed out. I am hoping if this is the case then the 1D or 1W CSS would have reversed so there will be no more trades opened till the trend is established again (to date I have not had a basket closure so not sure about this setting yet - 3% maybe to high on a $10k demo account)).

Also note that I have removed most of the NZD and CHF pairs

Cheers Richard
Hi all. I too have been running the 'old clunker tonka truck' for a few months and results are looking encouraging.

Note that I have: TP and SL in place on each pair; Global Basket TP and SL in place thanks to old version of MPTM; one trade per pair @ 0.01Lot; do not trade all pairs.

I am going to look at setting 'Awesome' up to trade in a similar way and see if the results match (as then I would not have to have the EA on all the charts)

Cheers Richard

Hi Richard,

I think I'd call 5,000 pips in a few months a little more than encouraging! :party: :party: :party:

Keep up the good work! I'll take a look at your settings just to try to learn a little more. I think between Super Slope and FB and Peaky and Sixths and HGI, and now Awesome to combine ideas, there are so many great options right now that I've never had so much fun trading.

There's never enough thanks to go to Steve, TJF, Bob, and everyone else that's bringing all of these ideas together.

Happy Trading!

Steve

This is some kind of bug. Let suppose that my local time is 22.00. If at this time i try to set up time like this: +08.00,-21.00 - it will not work and the EA will remove itself from the chart with core library error. But if i'll put let say +21.00,-23.30 - the EA will stay on the chart without core library error.

So if you set up trading hours, your local time needs to be in the range that you put in EA. For exemple your local time is 08.30, trading hours +08.00,-18.00 - this will work.

Good luck.
If you put your mind onto something sooner or later it will come up with the solution.

Still LIVE on Trading in the Middle, but I have been playing the part of the chicken all week and closing trades manually whenever I see profits on the table. Call it a healthy mistrust of trade signals in August. :lol:

I was up to $ 36.52 profit last week with all trades closed. I closed all open trades again today a little before the London close, and I'm now up $ 48.93 on my $1,000 live account (split into two $500 accounts here in the U.S.) Not quite 5%, but it is closing in. I like the limited trading this does and that I'm not facing a big DD so far. I am still limiting trading to twice on the same pair for now. I'd have to get further into profit before I would consider removing that restraint, and even then I would probably use a trade manager to limit global loss.

I have great hopes that this EA can just keep chugging its way into profit.

Happy trading! :clap:

I'm giving my Live extended test the rest of the week off. All trades closed about an hour into the London session today. Total profit on my $1,000 real money investment is $60.90, just over 6% in what was really about 7 days of live trading over the last two weeks.

My goals for HGBDSSFB are modest. I wanted to find an EA that I could run live on just a $1,000 total investment that would have limited risk with a chance to modestly add to my balance over time. My goal is a 20% return per year, which would be just under 2% a month. Sure, I'd like more and be very happy to take it, but at 20% I would consider it a complete success. I know from testing that there are losing weeks when SS changes direction and moves against your trades, but I've got a little bit of a cushion now going forward.

I'm going to try to get some final trade manager settings organized for the start of next week. If I can do that, I'll post how I'm trading with the trade manager involved.

Kopan had sent me a PM, that among other questions asked if I had tested this with the H4 TF. I haven't, but I think it's worth a good test. I'm thinking the SL would need to be bigger for starters. Offhand, I would think it would work better using the weekly SS as a filter instead of the Daily SS, staying two timeframes above the trading timeframe, but if I can get some CPU time among my multiple tests, it has me interested in trying both and seeing how they perform.

Important side note - I am running the EA with one small change, which is that I've taken out the part of the code which closes buy trades when you get a sell signal and vice versa. Trading in the middle, if I get a valid sell signal when a buy trade is open, I want to leave the buy trade open. At the very least, they hedge each other, but there is also the chance they could both eventually end up in profit.

Fun times here! TJF, Steve, and everyone else with the great ideas and efforts, a very big Thanks!!! :clap: :clap: :clap: :clap: :clap:

A chaotic week for trading in the middle live. All trades now closed. 41 trades opened and closed for the week, which really is too many on a U.S. account with 33:1 and 50:1 margin maximums on the various pairs. Several times in the week I was close to using all of my available margin.

It took me a while to realize that in setting up the EA for the new week I had disabled the feature to limit a pair to two open trades. I will have that set back on for next week which hopefully will keep things a little more to my liking.

I was lucky to escape the week with small profit. $ 28.79 profit on sell trades, $ 23.32 loss on buy trades.
A net $ 5.47 profit (about 1/2 of 1% on my original $1,000 investment)

Three full weeks live going back to July 30th:
Sell trades are up $ 49.22 (539 pips)
Buy trades are up $ 20.15 (230 pips)

Just under 7% return. The long term live test continues. I'll see if I can hang onto my profit.

Trade Managment I am now using:
Breakeven 50/10
Jumping stop 30 pips, only jump after break even.
SL = Daily ATR (90 periods) multiplier=2.5

Have a great weekend! :clap: :clap: :clap:

Trading in the Middle had its first losing week last week, although I was pleased to see that it was very small. Sell trades made $ 4.51 for the week, Buy trades lost $ 4.90 for a week, for a net 39 cent loss.

Four full weeks of live trading on my $1,000 has netted a gain of $ 68.98. I'll keep things updated as I trudge along. I may set up a small live Oanda account to run just four pairs with this in a 4-hour setup, using the weekly superslope of 4/50 as the filter.

Happy trading this week! :clap:

Trading only in the Middle Update: A crazy week indeed. It started with me closing all trades Monday afternoon after I was up 2% in just one day. I know what you're thinking - a smart trader would have shut down for the week. A smart 2% return in just 24 hours when your goal is just 20% per year. :o :? :x :twisted: :evil: :shock:

We have a service here in Massachusetts called 'Smart Traveler' which lets you know traffic jams to avoid. When we get caught in traffic because we didn't bother to use it, we refer to ourselves as 'Stupid Travelers. You can probably follow the bouncing ball....

Oh well... All trades now closed for the week. Buy trades up $ 4.40, sell trades up $ 2.56, so I did finish the week in the green, up $ 6.96, :mrgreen: just over 1/2 of 1% on what was certainly a crazy trading week.

I've been trying to use OnlyTradeCurrencyTwice=true, but that is not working for me. CAD and AUD both had four trades open on the same account at once this week, and I'm pretty sure it's a forex rule that you can only have the same currency traded four time at once if all four are losing money. Okay, maybe it's just a cozybooks rule, but I always follow it. I may disable that feature and lower the number of pairs traded on each account so that I can only have three trades open at once. I think I could live with that until the account grows more.

Happy Trading! :clap: :clap: :clap:
