- H1 and/or H4: looks for a touch/break of the lower Tma True (not to be confused with the 10.2 Tma Slope) lower line for a buy trade, upper line for a sell - at any time within about the last 8 hours. This confirms a retrace has taken place and we are not trading on the wrong side of it.
that's better for me

Steve, be aware you only use one parameter for 8 hours TmaLookBackBars=8
but you will need 2 parameters like TmaLookBackBarsH1=8 and TmaLookBackBarsH4=2

and also, you have to manage MA Crossing AFTER TMA hit ! the code don't care this at mo !

SORRY, phil please delete your most recent post - I fixed my post up and made a mistake. It should be:

a buy trade need to wait first to hit LOWER H1 TMA or LOWER H4 TMA
and only after this to cross descending 5.1 MA's

a sell trade need to wait first to hit UPPER H1 TMA or UPPER H4 TMA
and only after this to cross ascending 5.1 MA's

Folks let this be a lesson not to smoke marijuana and attempt to discuss trading with internet friends, you will end up looking like a retard.

OK that's perfect. So we have to wait for Steve to code TMA HIT (H1 or H4 in last 8 hours) and only after MA crossing.

I didn't explain myself so good before, so here is the flow (long):

1. the TMA's touch on bottom H1 or H4
2, price moves up and the H4 5.1's get hit (basket triggered, price is now above the H4 5.1's)
3. no more baskets sent until
- a: previous bucket is closed AND
- b: price goes BELOW the 5.1's & then moves up and touches the 5.1 again.

When I read this, I realised that I have one TMA look back candles input for two different timeframes, so the H4 would be looking back 32 hours.

V 1d is in post 1, with separate inputs for both time frames.

Looking at this, I accidentally made an edit to the 5.1 cross-spotting function because I went to the wrong function and did not notice because it was using the TMA lookback input instead of its own. Me and copy/paste again. Alone, fixing this makes an essential re-download.

Jem, you talk about the market touching/crossing the 5.1 after reaching the Tma outer lines.

How can it be any different? Doesn't the market have to move a long way to reach the outer Tma lines, and will always do this before moving back to the 5.1? I will take your say-so on this, and add the relevant code if in fact the market can cross back to the 5.1 before touching Tma.

:D
Read the effing manual, ok?

Yup the scenario is that we are looking for a retrace in a downtrend. So we wait for price to retrace to the upper tma bands and then when it crosses the 5.1 we enter a short.

Now, say the basket moves down a little in our favour and then continues back ABOVE the 5.1 MA for a stopout. The next basket should only be triggered once the first basket has closed AND price comes from above and touches the 5.1 MA again.

Maybe I've confused myself lol. Let's leave it for now, I'll check again in the morning ;)

I've got to say after seeing the Currency Slope Indicator it might be a better way to tell us what the trend is than the TMA Slope readings we are using now. Have a look at this screenshot. After the GBP (red) crosses above the JPY (maroon) we should not have been shorting this at all! If anything we should have been longing GBPJPY every time it went under the 5.1 MA and crossed back above.

But this is what Baluda indicator is pretty much doing, so maybe we can use the retrace(tma) + entry(tma of this and put it together with Baluda crosses we might have a winner. I think you mentioned this yourself in the Baluda thread. Fascinating stuff this just gets better and better.

Ok it's 5am, time for beddy byes. Catch you all in the morning and Steve again, thanks mate :)

Just thinking about this - the rules say TMA slope strength must be >0.8 and <-0.8 to ADD to existing open positions. Surely we are limiting trading opportunities if we wait for this condidtion on D1 tf, and we are missing valid trades if slope strength is >0.4 but <0.8 && <-0.4 but >-0.8?
