I have just been playing with Thomas' dashboard. It is a wonderful tool.

I am teaching this afternoon, so I will update post 1 and the user guide this evening.

Thomas has sent me an update to his dashboard EA; I have uploaded it to post 1.

I have updated the user guide, but here is the info about Thomas' update to save those of you who already know what is going on from downloading it again. From the UG:

Thomas (tomele) is one of our resident genius coders. He offered to create an enhanced dashboard with a graphical representation of the state of all the indicators selected for use by the user. Thomas' CP dashboard EA. You will see when you load it up, what a help it will be in devising trading strategies.

Both dashboards use the same engine, so the inputs are the same as is the method of automating chart opening and closing. It occurred to Thomas that it would be a help to have charts close more slowly even though the trading conditions no longer exist. Imagine the frustration of spending a lot of time setting up a chart for investigating your latest idea only to have it suddenly disappear. Thomas has introduced a new input to combat this:
ChartCloseTimerMultiple: this tells the dashboard to wait for EventTimerIntervalSeconds x ChartCloseTimerMultiple seconds before closing an untradable chart. Imagine defaults of EventTimerIntervalSeconds = 60 and ChartCloseTimerMultiple = 15: Thomas' dashboard will wait for 15 minutes before closing an untradable chart.

could you please check the code snippet within your dashboard which calculates Bob's MA filter. It looks like as if it only calculates "uptrend MA" which results in wrong charts being opened and closed. Furthermore it seems as if your dashboard does not pick up manual trades (Magic Number 0) to open the appropriate chart.
Hope I could help out a bit by pointing towards a possible typo within the code.

Yes. You seem to be right. I will look into it.

I am refering to Steve‘s User Manual page 3 — Input section — Magic Number. According to my understanding if we put in 0 for the magic number, the dashboard should recognises a trade even if that particular tade was send manual and open the appropriate chart. Let‘s say, even if the conditions on EU are not met we send a buy trade. The dashboard recognises our EU trade and opens the chart automatically ...

Well, maybe I misunterstood that point of Steve‘s manual ... donno?!?

Yes, you misunderstood that completely.

The EA opens charts where the indicators/filters (shown in the dashboard) agree. Not more, not less. Dont mix it up with anything else.

One question though: How do you send a manual trade if you dont have the chart open? You are confusing me.

Updates to both dashboards are in post 1.

My simple version merely replaces the instances of 'Bid' with 'bid' in the Moving Average code highlighted by WorldsEnd. Classy people can make the change easily.

Thomas' version has a brilliant addition. Clicking the cyan label cycles between: all pairs; tradable pairs; pairs with trades open regardless of why, so long as they have the appropriate magic number.

Thomas just sent me one more teensy change to his Dashboard. The two of you who downloaded it before reading this post need to re-download - it is significant to those of you using Bob's moving average filter..
