The Awesome Basket Forward Test

Hello everybody,

I see that my Awesome50€TP forward test has created some interest. Let's clarify couple of things:

1. I changed the set file on August 22, so results before that date are not relevant. I changed the custom start date in myfxbook as well.

2. It's nothing more and nothing less than old good TJF-s weekly set file from page 23. I just changed Global Basket trading/ Basket Cash TP from 150 to 50. I think that's the only change I made. It runs on V1f.


But I must say that I'm pretty impressed by the performance myself, as I had no high hopes for those settings. I put it to Amazon VPS which can barely run this thing and practically forgot it for couple of weeks.

I have no good explanation why it works so well but hey, I'm not complaining

All glory goes to TJF for the set file.

For sure I'm not the only one who tested those settings, what is your experience?

Really excited about the progress here thanks to everyone especially Steve and TJF, but I think WhoKnows has made a good job of analysis of the various versions of Awesome and associated setfiles

Edit: Update currently +498.7 pips awesome_tp50 v1f

I think I found an other instance where Awesome opened trades far away from the current level.
See also my earlier post http://www.stevehopwoodforex.com/phpBB3 ... 80#p157609 where sell trades were opened at 100-200 pip from current price levels.

This one is from the Marx64 set (so unrelated to the case above).
As mentioned in the other post, I can't understand why Awesome opens trades (in this case buy trades) when price level is already 100 pips lower for more than an hour.
I haven't seen this yet in my tests, but maybe something for you to monitor in your tests.

In your trade example, the ticket time is 10:17 and from what I can see, that particular bar reached our price.

I checked your MyFxBook page just now, and I do not see any EURNZD orders opened for today

Me on the other hand have 3 EURNZD sell orders opened already today, and they are dragging my profit total down (EURNZD had been on a huge run up since Oct 17)

Since I am using the same version and set file as you posted, I am wondering why this is happening.
Should we not have more or less the same pairs traded across multiple timeframes?

It's difficult to say why is it so, can be about broker or whatever. I checked and there are really no EURNZD trades on my 50tp account today. I started another test yesterday with same settings but 200€ balance/ 25€ tp and there is one EURNZD buy trade from yesterday, which closed today with a big profit.

I'm afraid that it's quite common that identical set files perform differently on different brokers or ever different instances with same broker. As I mentioned before my 50tp account runs on free Amazon VPS which is constantly overloaded, that may also affect trades. I'm sure there are more experienced members who can explain it properly.

Might also be related to incomplete price history. Did you load enough history?
Strategies do need enough historic bars to calculate the correct trades.

Here are results of past 54 hours of a variation 1Direction's H4PeakHiLo-Spyderman set.....basically I added a variation of H1 to original....seems to be doing quite well at this time....adding set file to show settings in case anyone interested.
Running on v1g.

Edit: 10-26, taking about 8% dd (H1 trades) on a 1700 acct due to Eur news this morning...looking back think should have disabled autotrading during this time.

Has nobody noticed the 150€ weekly mark? Maybe this is playing a big role in the opening/closure of new trades. If this 150€ target is met in the first 3 days, the thursday turn and wicked friday can be avoided. Thus providing a steady equity mark.
