I've tried this approach over the last two days and had great success. Not sure whether it was just easier trading conditions but I made 110 pips yesterday and 132 today.Spudfan » Mon Jan 15, 2018 2:02 pm wrote: As I like simple systems (and I am inclined towards nakedness, I don't want to get pulled too far down the road of multiple indies, so for now I am being guided by an earlier post from Leon about waiting for the next H4 bar to open and if the signal is still there, only then to proceed with decision-making, probably using something pretty straightforward like S/R levels and dominant trend direction.
I no longer enter as a big arrow or wavy forms but wait until that candle has closed - even a day or so later is still OK if the signal is still valid and price structure, key levels and trend are still favourable. But in all cases, I haven't been trading from the current candle. So far so good.
It also means that the pop-up alerts are not useful for entries because they are based on the current candle. Instead I scroll through each chart until I see a moderately recent signal (big arrow or blue wavy) where a trade would make sense structurally. I usually do that just after each four hour session has closed but it can be any time, in fact.
It's an interesing shift, because my primary focus is now on chart structure, levels and trend and the HGI signals just call my attention to a particular pair that is a likely candidate for a trade.

I've had another look at the charts and I think I've been over-complicating things. Have a look at this chart (randomly selected, happens to be AUDCAD) and see if you can find errors in my thinking.
Rules used here: Trade ONLY the big arrows and only AFTER the candle has closed, in other words, no more adjusting of that signal - it's painted and the paint has dried. WYSIWYG. (Am I correct in this assertion?). Exit on an opposing signal.
I've placed short lines indicating the likely level where a trade would have been entered and closed.
I have estimated the number of pips from the entry level to where I think the yellow wavy would instruct one to exit. The main doubt I have about this is that an earlier yellow wavy might have appeared and been 'adjusted' or disappeared as price progressed during the life of the initial candle. But I can't know that now, so this is a best guess.
What you see here is 9 wins and 1 loss, courtesy of a big spike. Total profit over 9 weeks including the end-of-year slowdown is 842 pips.

I must remind you in real time you wouldn't get these signals as what you are seeing now, I'm pretty sure the result wouldn't be this good if you trade it the way as you describe.Spudfan » Sat Jan 20, 2018 10:37 pm wrote: What you see here is 9 wins and 1 loss, courtesy of a big spike. Perhaps consider an RSIOMA cross for confirmation.Spudfan » Sat Jan 20, 2018 11:22 pm wrote:

Alistair,Surely if a candle closes then if a big arrow is visible on that closed candle, even one second after it closes, then that's it. It cannot disappear and won't be adjusted - it surely has to be fixed in place and be permanent? I suppose I need to wait for the markets to open and set a M5 chart and just stare at it for a while
Something you could do is open the 5min timeframe, leave it as is. Do not change to another time frame and ensure you do not close your platform for the time that you are checking this. Hgi signals will show from the time it was given and leave all the signals as is on the chart. This will give you a realistic picture of when all the signals were given. It will only reset when you change to another timeframe or restart your platform.
Cheers
