Curious how the two sets are going after the last 2 weeks?

No problem I have now moved again to V7 Daily 0.97% Drawdown 2.89% and V8 Daily 0.75% Drawdown 1.69% both only running since Feb 8th. I am now trying to come up with a way of minimising drawdown even further as I dont care too much about the profits being huge, just steady and lower risk. Compound interest is very powerful as you know http://compoundaily.com/ so even a consistent 0.5% would make me happyarkhonic » Wed Feb 14, 2018 4:02 am wrote:c1borg » Fri Jan 26, 2018 8:55 pm wrote: V6 (1.6% drawdown 1.58%/day) Although its only been running a short time I am confident enough from the information ive gleaned to be running V6 as my first live account and will report on progress. I am still in test mode so will release my best version when im happy with some explanation of my findings, currently I am looking at bad pairs to remove. Then possibly time of day and no Friday trading? Its a long process :youknow:

Thanks for the update, appreciate you taking the time to update.
I agree that even > 1% daily return can give you a major boost over time especially if the drawdown is kept under control. Look forward to further updates!

In my opinion, if you can get more than 1% per day then you would be trading too big sizearkhonic » Wed Feb 14, 2018 4:59 pm wrote:

or you would be using too many correlated pairs.
Either way, it will only be a matter of time before the account gets in trouble

Totally agree do you have a good list of uncorrelated pairs I can experiment with for concervative drawdown, V8 is generally about 0.5%/day atmbillv » Wed Feb 14, 2018 7:15 am wrote:In my opinion, if you can get more than 1% per day then you would be trading too big sizearkhonic » Wed Feb 14, 2018 4:59 pm wrote:

Here is my list, I took the standard circulated list and changed a few pairs.c1borg » Wed Feb 14, 2018 11:45 pm wrote: Totally agree do you have a good list of uncorrelated pairs I can experiment with for concervative drawdown, V8 is generally about 0.5%/day atm
AUDCAD,AUDNZD,AUDJPY,AUDUSD,CADCHF,CADJPY,CHFJPY,EURCAD,EURGBP,EURUSD,GBPUSD,
NZDUSD,NZDCHF,USDCAD,USDJPY
I have it running on its own and it is makes money daily but the DD is also going up and down.
It trades the 5M, 15M,1H,4H
I avoided the 1M because it generates too many trades and makes recovery harder.
So far I don't have any meaningful results to share.
After watching it for a few months, I believe correlation is important but even more important is the lot size.
In order to avoid nasty surprises we have to keep the lot size as small as possible.
I will let it run like this for a few more months.
My plan is to occasionally intervene and recover particular pairs manually.
Here is a website where you can pick 1 currency pair and then see the correlation against many other pairs.

I don't know why you would do this because 1% DD is not significant,c1borg » Fri Feb 16, 2018 5:00 pm wrote: Awesome thanks for the helpim now thinking if the EA goes above a DD target average/day, which will certainly be under 1% we close trades manually to bring the DD back in line
I would start to worry after 20%
I think it is important to try and exit the losers early but there is no need to rush too much because often the market swings back.
In my EA I have enabled symbol basket trading and I set a low TP value in there,
So when there are 5 or more losers and the market swings back in our direction, the EA will find it easier to close those particular trades.
I would use perhaps 1/4 ( or even less) of our normal TP and maybe set it to switch in after 5 trades.
I hope this helps
cheers

Interesting the 20% seems high to me but will give it some thought, totally agree however on the small TP. Any chance you can give me your set file so I can comparebillv » Fri Feb 16, 2018 6:21 am wrote:I don't know why you would do this because 1% DD is not significant,c1borg » Fri Feb 16, 2018 5:00 pm wrote: Awesome thanks for the helpim now thinking if the EA goes above a DD target average/day, which will certainly be under 1% we close trades manually to bring the DD back in line
