Hi Rambo and thanks for contributing - it sounds as though you've really got a handle on CJ's teachings. I'm still in the early stages but keeping an open mind. Regarding the charts you posted, I thought that Ms and Ws represented high and lows respectively. The M you have marked seems to be in a fairly random location which could occur anywhere - can you explain the logic behind it?

Also, what does the circled area represent? Thanks :)

Hey Rewand,

Always enjoy conversing with you as you have an awesome mind for the charts! To be completely honest with you, the only reason I map is to get a trade on the higher tF's that I am almost completely sure of that I can stack for days/weeks and make a boatload of pips. I don't map from the 1 min to get a trade on the 15m or daily chart specifically.. but sometimes it just so happens that I do bc I comb through a few different TF's to try and find where each is in the pattern.. sometimes it works out where two are in a perfect spot on the lower tf's and I will take the trade. Most times, I'll try and locate where we are on the weekly, Daily, or 4H and then flip down to the 1HR or 15m to make sure it lines up and to get a solid entry. After that I will proceed to keep stacking orders presuming the trade is working as intended. Make sense? I would say the rationale for me to map is to have a higher percentage trade then just using levels alone. More confluence. Also, allows me to get a better entry as I can can anticipate which structure they may throw up there.

Also, since the lower TF patterns have repeated a countless amount of times before the higher TF plays out, I like looking there to get an idea of the different variations.

Personally, I have difficulty trading the pattern from the 1M for the move on the 15M because the pattern gets very dirty and choppy for me, however I'm sure El Capitan has no problems in doing so. :D

Hi everyone.
My journey with forex began somewhere in the last march when I stumbled upon a thread in FF where a guy named Captain Jack was telling that price is not random and in fact it can be predicted with a high degree of accuracy. It caught my interest and from that moment onwards I have devoted my time to charting. During the process I have met so many wonderful people that helped me grow as a trader, and for that I would like to thank all of them, and I am sure that in the near future I will still ask for their valuable advice and guidance. I still haven’t “make it”, but I like to believe that with self-perseverance, along with a helping hand one day I might achieve freedom I so yearn for.

As a trader to beat the market, we need to have an “edge” against everyone else, be it money management, going against “sheeple”, using expensive indicator, or watching lunar eclipse for the perfect entry. Shameful to admit I have tried so many of them… What is more, I never quite grasp the methodology behind counting levels and pushes, as many time for me ( and I believe this could be the case with others ) levels did not match with the overall movement of a given pair. Whenever I expected the end of a cycle, we would get a reset to new highs or lows, whenever I expected a one more level up or down, it would not finish, whenever I expected pins to be the first signal of reversal pattern I would be trapped like a frog being boiled alive. Whenever I tried to play it safe with stop loss, more often than not I would get taken out before the true move would being, every time I hold on dearly to a losing trade I would get myself in just more DD. It is my opinion that many traders who frequent this forum had the unpleasant experience to be in a similar situation. It was nerve wrecking, and bluntly put, I’ve had enough of it. Then, during my course of rereading all the material that was generously published by CJ, Sympathy, Dudest, Dagu, and others I saw something that I could relate to, as it was price mapping. I have studied long and hard on the subject as I believed at the time it could have been my saving grace on Forex.

When it comes to the subject of mapping one has to always remember CJ words that should be embedded into the core of everyone who tries to mimic Capitan Jack. The words are ( paraphrasing ) “ we should be able to recognize patterns and not match them “. This should be a warning to everyone who tries to map price, since nothing is more dangerous to one’s trading account than biased and blindfolded trader set on seeing his way of price perception materializing. We all need to understand that there that mapping is as unique and complex as building a nuclear reactor… or as simple and clear as using a remote to turn on the telly . There needs to be a set of rules for mapping to make sense. For me over the time, some faded away, others took their place, some grow to as more important, and other became to be pushed away. Those rules need to be establish by everyone separately. The first and the most important being, from where to find source pattern, should we look everywhere and nowhere on the chart or do they appear in areas of designated? Are there areas that patterns might emerge more frequent? Is there a place where patterns like to duplicate, and so much more. Such question should be asked whenever studying Price Action and its subsequent pattern repetition.

Just look how confusing mapping UC can be... Which one is true, if there even is one...?

Most simple one... :

Take your pick guys.

Tradeitforex,

CJ has also stated that one must trade within his means and demo trade until they are nailing the trades before risking their own money. Your looking at maps and assuming that the charts should be exactly the same. Mapping takes a while to understand. Captain has said many of times that they are not going to look identical. The point is to be able to understand the structures and be able to notice what they are building. If everything looked the same from chart to chart how easy would it be? This is why mapping takes time and requires thought. It is not a free standing strategy. It has been repeated plenty of times that all of these "tools" should be used in conjunction with one another to get an incredibly high probability trade. The levels and entry are the basics but can be used on their own to be plenty profitable. Mapping is the advanced portion. Master both and you'll see your confidence skyrocket while entering. Captain essentially just showed you the direction of the trade. Why take it if you still don't understand? there are plenty more charts..

Hello, Captain, thanks for stopping by again. I was a little sad that I discovered this topic after you were no longer posting here, but I understand, having seen it happen before. You (and other well-meaning people) start a topic to help others and after you've said all you wanted to, you end up repeating yourself over and over because some people won't make the effort to read what's been said already. I am studying this topic from both ends to keep pounding into my head the things I don't quite get yet. Sometimes I just look at a chart and admit, I have no idea what action to take or what I'm waiting for or looking for there, so I move on. It would be very much appreciated if you did pop in once in a while and maybe toss in a chart with some comments so I (and others) could see, Ok this is what he sees, and what I should be seeing... do I see it or do I still need to learn that. If you don't, I understand but thanks again. I hope to get it soon, so I can start enjoying larger profits than losses and freedom from the JOB.

To All,

Recently I posted a few charts along with information pertaining to the idea of "mapping" price. For that I would like to sincerely apologize to those involved in this thread as I have found it is a concept that most aren't very receptive to and I have since deleted those posts. This forum has allowed me to grow tremendously as a trader and is an outstanding resource that I am very fortunate to be a part of. Although I haven't been the most active member within this thread, I have been here for some time now and normally pop in daily. In recent weeks, the energy around here has been nothing short of infectious as Wavegarrick, Rewand, dydynamic, CJ, and a bunch of others have really done a great job educationally. In hopes that this thread continues to ascend in terms of positivity & trader development, I will keep my comments geared towards the three levels and entries. This is CJ's thread and I do not wish to hijack it with my own ideas.

Happy trading everyone! Let's get back to those levels and entries :)

Hi Rambo,

Your charts were well done, I see the the switch has flipped for you and you can now see clearly and fully that this is not a random market at all. I dropped mapping here and when I was at FXAW as 99.9% fail to understand the concept. They fail because they do not understand it is a reality but that reality does not exist within their universe.

If you wish to go in a different direction, you can always start your on section within this forum as many others have done.

Good luck and good trading.

UC might be a good example of trapping pattern emerging that shows higher highs could be in place. The pattern I speak of is ak pattern which was presented by Captain Jack himself. AK it not as easy at it seems, since depending on the positioning in the cycle, it can serve as a trapping pattern for reaching higher highs or lower lows, and of couse at the same time it can be the beginning of a reversal pattern.
2018-04-01_09-43-28.png
2018-04-01_09-40-35.png
For me there are a couple of hints where AK is in play. The first one is point D where price should not reach this point again, the second one is what is happening after said poind D. Price should print a W/M or M/W depending on where it is set to go. For me in the attached picture M is embedded in points F-G-H (where F should be higher than H, to give a proper trapping pattern), and W is embedded in points I-J-K (where again, point I should be lower than point K to give a proper W ).

This is where maps might come in play to help a trader decide if longs or shorts are in place, the problem is mapping will always be an individual apprach unable being replicated by others. Depending from what time zone we get the source pattern the beginning will frequently start out with the same patterns, however the outcome will not always be the same. Like the presented price projections by me a few posts up, the problem remains from where to take sources. I have my own theory about it but I would like other to come forth and share their thoughts on the matter

What do you recon Captain, will UC go up?

Hey Captain,

Your kind words mean the world to a first mate navigating the underworld on his own.

I sincerely appreciate the effort you have put into educating all of us members and the willingness to be so forthcoming with your knowledge.

As far as the personal thread goes, I don't foresee it in my future as you have already put forth everything one may need to understand the concept of mapping. I feel I would just be regurgitating information that you have previously said but in a less eloquent and more informal manner.

With regard to your take on people's reality, this comment instantly brought me back to the days I spent at university. I was fortunate enough to attend an M7 school here in the states and earn a few degrees. I remember most of the professors harping on the fact that we must go through life with a burning curiosity to understand things at a deeper level. From what I've gathered from close friends who are traders that I've tried to teach, this is where most go wrong when it comes to mapping. Most lacked this burning curiosity and the ability to expand their thoughts enough to make it a reality. They had a preconceived idea of how it "should work" instead of allowing themselves to learn how it actually works. Psychologically, our minds are far more malleable when it comes to the easier concepts but become more rigid with the difficult ones that require logic and interpretation beyond the initial glance at a chart. These preconceived ideas paired with wrong fundamental assumptions about the market within someones mind only creates a recipe for disaster as the the old saying holds true, "it only takes 1 year to learn but 5 years to unlearn. "

Furthermore, I've found that people tend to want hard rules when none exist. You have said this many of times as well. This is no system, only a set of tools set forth to be used in conjunction with our minds which acts as the indicator to place a trade. If there were a "designated" area to consistently find a map, this area would then be manipulated. Again, we must understand that EVERYTHING we are seeing is controlled by the fox and he has only one rule, "There are no rules". Rules make us feel safe but safe is the enemy of sure in this game. Feeling safe puts you in with the pack. Feeling safe puts you on the Fox's menu. Feeling safe means your mind is still sensing danger in the area, while feeling sure indicates that your mind is confident.

Anyway, I must say I am deeply impressed at the fact that you managed to navigate the rabbit hole without a guide. I can't imagine how incredibly tough that must have been without anyone to show you the ropes. When I look back I think about how difficult and frustrating it was for me at times & I had your comments and illustrations to go by. Couldn't imagine being in your shoes!

As stated earlier, this will be my last post regarding mapping as I now understand your frustrations when trying to bring it to the forefront LOL. Again, thanks for all your efforts. Hope all is well with the family & you are still finding some open road to cruise on the motorcycle!
