Peaky Fifo

10 months into my Peaky Fifo demo. Back to back big months, which is unusual. + $ 445.37 in closed trades. My balance right now in the demo account is a cool $ 13,030 - just a hair above a 30% return in 10 months on my mythical $10,000. Drawdown is only $ 256.00 at the moment.

Live manual trading on Oanda cents account - closed + $18.59 in profits, for a total of $ 103.78. Not a bad return on my cents account since November. Total of $ 130.00 invested has left me with a return of almost 80%. Drawdown on the cents live account is only -$7.50 right now. Full disclosure on the live account - I was willing to keep funding it up to $500 if it needed it, but so far it needed only one infusion of $30 when it was nearing a margin call.

Two months left and my Peaky Fifo demo will reach the one year mark. Brief summary - I made a change early this year to have a maximum four trades and to leave more space between them - first trade is .01, fourth trade is .04. No trades beyond the fourth trade. After that I wait for it to either hit its TP or else be closed by an opposite signal, so my maximum exposure on any pair is .10 lots. So far I've had one set of trades that closed for a loss EURJPY hit an opposite signal when it was still in the negative - can't remember how much, but I'm thinking it was in the $50 range.

I am just getting getting stared using PF, very similar to your setup. The only major difference is that I try to close all trades by the end of the week. Result are good, gaining about 10% monthly average. Trading with Oanda live micro account.

That's an interesting variation, especially since a lot of my trades go on for months. It probably allows more new trades to open up by closing the original ones.

You said that you try to close all trades at the end of every week. What determines whether you actually close them? Are you closing everything if you are in the black at the end of the week, or using some other criteria to decide whether to close them or not?

Well, as you might imagine, after back to back big months, June was a very quiet month for Peaky Fifo.

$ 13.28 profit in closed trades for the month for a net profit on 11 months of closed trades of $3,043.28. Drawdown is within a few cents of $ 250.00

Live manual cents account on Oanda: $ 7.88 profit in closed trades for June, for a total of profit of $ 111.66. Drawdown was within a few pennies of $ 9.00.

One month left on my one year Peaky Fifo demo.

Hi all,

My one year demo with Peaky Fifo is complete. July ended with a whimper - just one trade closed for $ 17.13 profit, bringing my profit in closed trades for the one year to: $ 3,060.41
I closed all open trades in the demo, which were running at a draw down of $ 167.11.

Deducting that from my closed trades, my one year profit on my $10,000 demo account is $2,893.30, nearly a 29% return. Hard to see this as anything other than a rousing success.

Just to be consistent, I closed all of the open trades in my live Oanda cents account as well. Quick Recap - I invested a total of $130.00 in the live account and ended with an account balance of $ 237.73 after all trades were closed, a total profit of $ 107.73, a total return of about 83% since December.

If you read my earlier posts from this thread, I had hopes of running this on a $5,000 account, but draw down reached a little over $ 1,000 at one point, and if it can do that for any given one year, it could certainly go much higher in more extreme circumstances. With any standard Forex broker that has a minimum lot size of $1,000, I don't think I would run Peaky Fifo live with less than $10,000 available to fund it as needed because of the increasing lot sizes.

If you can find a broker willing to do $100 lot sizes on an Empty4 platform, you could do it comfortably with a $1,000 account.

I'll start a new set of manual trades on my live cents account and if the forum Peaky Fifo thread survives long term, I'll report back every few months or so on how it does.

Hey Trading Gang,

Yes, Peaky Fifo keeps humming along, slowly churning out profits even while lots more exciting things are going on.

Demo was up to $ 13,060 after one year on 8/1 from an original $10.000. It's been a slow but steady 2-1/2 months since then, with demo now up to $ 13,400.

Live Oanda penny account has been growing and growing. Several times on my live penny account I've closed all trades when I've booked a decent profit and then reopened a new set of trades. This has the benefit of resetting some trades that are in a deep hole or have two or three trades open trying to recover. When I reset, I only enter one new trade for every pair for which the demo has a trade open, even if the demo has more trades open on a pair.

My live account started last December with $100. I had to add another $130 in the early days to keep it solvent - My original $ 230 from last December has grown to net profit (even with all open trades) of $ 450 - quite the return going!

Right from the start I've believed Peaky would be a big winner if you keep the lot sizes low. On my $450 live account I am now using lot sizes starting at $200. I leave the Peaky demo running and then check it once or twice a week. I add any new trades manually that the demo has added. A lot of times the initial trades opened by the demo have gone into the negative, so doing it this way has actually helped my live account pile up the pips.

I am only increasing lot sizes by $1 on my live account, so I am doing $200 for the first trade, $201 for the second trade, etc. This has been working fine.

Steve, Peaky was a great idea from the start! The profits just keep rolling in!!

Hey Trading Gang,

Peaky Fifo live on my baby Oanda account with $201 lot sizes keeps chugging along, now at a balance of $ 472.00 (up from the original $ 230 invested). Drawdown is $ 2.41.

The work going on with the resident geniuses on tdesk is stunning, but I'm keeping my little baby Peaky Fifo account going. Tdesk looks to be the ultimate Trend follower, and Peaky makes a nice hedge against that by going against the longer term trend and looking for a reversal.

Trading idea with Peaky. Do you have one of those old original trading accounts left with not much money in it, and you can't bring yourself to close it? I've got one from my first trading days that somehow never blew up (pure luck) and I'm going to see if Peaky can rehabilitate it.

Let the Peaky Demo run, and whenever Peaky or Peaky Fifo has a pair that has at least three trades open and all losing money, look to enter your FIRST trade in your battered old live account. Right now on my Peaky Fifo demo I have AUDCAD with three open buy trades, all losing money, down about 1,100 pips between them. My lower trading line just got broken on AUDCAD moving up, so I'm going to enter my FIRST trade now on on the old clunky loser account and watch what happens. The account doesn't have much money in it, so it can't take that many trades at once, but if you keep a lot of space between your Peaky trades, you won't have trades like this that often.

Thanks for the support. I have a soft spot in my heart for Peaky now. No matter how well other trading ideas work out, I'll keep Peaky going. I know at some point the drawdown will be higher, but a few months into the demo, once I started the live penny account, I increased the number of pips between trades, and that made a big difference. More space between trades. More boring because sometimes a whole month goes by and hardly any trades open or close. Oh, and more boring profit too.

It goes to show - small changes sometimes can make a big difference.
