FX VPS - Cheaper and faster than the rest!

Hi,

For those who are using FX VPS, NYC location close to the Exchange...

What is the latency in milliseconds (ms) do you get when you open your GP Empty4?

Reason I ask this is: Currently I'm using a VPS with latency of <1ms

This is important because a few ms longer can affect where you are in the order book and when your orders get filled because we have to line up to get our orders filled - it can mean the difference between closing your winning trades with slippage because you weren't fast enough get out (and if you haven't set any stop orders to to take profit)... if you set stopless orders the criminal brokers may stop hunt you and then move in a direction, a bit of cat and mouse.

Every millisecond and cents count in trading... it all adds up.

In the Futures market you can see Level 2 order book, see supply and demand and etc... if FX trading on the live market we only get volume activity in Empty4 and you'll have to combine it with price action to discern sentiment of the market. - side note :?

Aim:
- low spread and low commission with Global Prime
- good spec for fast EA execution.
- minimal latency <1 ms, close to the exchange with direct connection, get orders filled quicker.


I may set up a trial with FX VPS to check it out...

<1ms.... never seen that before... but we do get ~1.51ms in the US to global prime.

Thanks Eaymon and ymleong for your responses...

Yes, there are many factors in running an effective VPS and good that I ask the question to broaden my view and understanding... sidenote: also check your Maintenance Sheduling not to run while idle during trading times, the newer Server OS has this on by default and can slow things to a crawl!

The VPS I'm currently running live trades with are very responsive and reliable... connection from GP is direct to broker (On Net <1ms) but I think I'll consider the options if/when I would like to run more EA's as I'll need to expand my resources and balancing cost of investing... like running a business, trying run things as efficiently as possible :-)

ymleong: I'll take your thoughts and suggestion into consideration, very helpful and useful :D

Does anyone here know how to set the time on the VPS to London time? It doesn't matter what I try; the damn thingy always resets to an hour slow.

i've implemented the patch, it just needs to be restarted( for both of you). Go ahead and do that at your own convenience.
