Hi Paul, thanks for the flowers.
-Current Spread Column-
AbnormalSpreadThreshold: [pip value]
PossibleStopHuntThreshold: [pip value]
SpreadsBlockSignals: [true/false]
I am sorry to correct you, but this is wrong. The thresholds are factors the spread must rise above the average or longterm spread. TDesk keeps a running record of these spread averages for each pair. You can see the values by clicking the spread column header to unfold detail columns.

I have now added this information to the "Manual".

Cheers
Thomas

Hi Thomas,

Can you please detail how the factor works please?

Let's take the example of GBPSEK. At the moment the current spread is 13.7 and the average spread 12.1. If I use AbnormalSpreadThreshold=5 it will not allow the currency pair for trading. If I use AbnormalSpreadThreshold=14 then it will allow the currency pair to be traded as well as other pairs having a spread below 14, not a difference between current vs average of 14 or less.

Cheers,
Paul

That is the problem. Wait until this shows a plausible value. It takes a while. Or manually change the global variable TDLTSPREAD/GBPSEK to 13 or 14 and restart TDesk. Then repeat your tests.

Long term values have been the same for a long time. Can you please let me know where I can change manually the global variable for each currency as I already know the values I want to use?

This will make no sense as they get recalculated and updated automatically.

Why don't you just wait? Trading is a mind game and patience is a virtue. It will take three hours to calculate the first value. Maybe I will work on this somewhen.

BTW. Trading an illiquid market can and will kill you sooner or later. IMHO, some of your conclusions are flat-out wrong. What is your intent? Doing maximum damage to your broker? A true ECN broker will not take the opposite trade, he will route it to his LP. You will get filled or not. Your stops will experience gigantic slippage. Trading with a market maker is even worse. He will use all tricks to make you never win against him. And he is always on the long side of the lever. So what could be the advantage of trading illiquid markets?

Thomas, I think you misread me. I do not trade the most illiquid assets, I trade the most volatile assets that allow better returns. My intent is not to damage my broker, my intent is to invest in assets that pay better. The larger the standard deviation and the larger Mean High to Low value, the better the currency pair is for me.

To come back to the spread subject, my TDesk shows correct long term spread values for spread such as 1.1 or 0.7 but for all the spreads with double digit values it is showing wrong values below 1. I think the double digit part might be a good point to start investigating. I have been using TDesk for 2 months now and the spread issue has been the same for me with exotic assets having double digit spreads hence my contribution today.

Pleased to have interacted with you anyway :)

Cheers,
Paul

Hi, Thomas.

Can you please add some option to TDesk to alertpush daily 3-5 days before date of TDesk expiration?

Regards,

Isabek.

By describing your observations properly, you have indeed pointed me to a problem. I will have to work on this.

Well spotted.
