Although such a behavior is aimed at giving us better entries, it will also trigger too many trades.
Also many of these opened trades will be at the beginning of the trade series and this will make trade recovery more difficult.
Therefore, I believe the EA would be much safer if the pending orders were not tracking price at all ( like SPB) OR the next down safer option would be to allow tracking only of the 1st trade ( like it is done in the Awesome EA)
One can set 'filling the gap' to no, and limit the amount of pendings.
The EA has enough settings to tinker with in my opinion.

Topping up should not be necessery, I believe it is a sign of overtrading/ too big lotsizing.
A 20K account can be topped up, and be saved.
To top up a 200K account enough to safe it would be a challenge.....
At least for me it would be

This will could do it, also reducing the number of traded pairs helps

Unfortunately I had to do this and it was Not due to too big lot sizing.
It was due to the aggreesive settings of my PS-2 account.
Despite the high DD the account was never at big risk but it was no longer immune to large market spikes so I had to top it up.

I'm Ok now, I gave back all the pips I won throughout the year in DD but overall equity is not down by too much. The account will easily recover all -ve trades on its own but I fear for other traders who don't have the financial buffer we have.

I will look into this.

I have looked into it and am confused. Does not the FollowAdverseMarketWithStopOrders turn off gap filling when set to false?

Hi Steve

Yes this input stops the "fill the gap" function.
The tracking I have seen must be the movement of orders placed by the other 3 time frames ( which are also 1st orders in their own time frame).

The additional time frames and this behavior help with trade recovery
but having the ability to stop the price tracking of pending orders would also prevent some of the pending orders from being triggered and therefore limit our DD.

So I guess we would need 4 new inputs ( 1 for each timeframe) placed close to input Trade1bufferPips
and named: Trade1FollowPrice=True/False

cheers

That is irrelevant. The gap filling code is only called if FollowAdverseMarketWithStopOrders and is specific to the time frame under consideration. Individual time frame inputs would merely repeat this filter.

The only solutions to DD are: trade fewer time frames; trade fewer pairs.

To automate what I do manually you could set MTPM with a 1% TP basket percentage that acts when the market is FLAT.

How could you set MTPM to do this?
I think that the 1% global closure in MTPM is for all open orders only not per symbol.
It would be useful to halve the number of open trades, only close the positive ones or only the positive ones of the same symbol, when their cash sum is equal to x% of the balance.

This in addition to decreasing the number of open trades, would increase the margin and equity and very important, will leave open only the negative ones that need more time to close in profit.

I believe this can greatly decrease the DD.

In fact, if the cash sum of a group of trades of the same symbol is positive and is not immediately closed, it could happen (and in general it happens often see the laws of Murphy) that it becomes negative and is added to the other trades still open in negative.

Consequently at least at that precise moment all the trades are negative and the total DD will increase.

The POS at this point would need more time to recover all these trades, slowing down the performance.

I understand what you mean, but see a number of flaws in your reasoning.

- When closing any position, be it positive or negative, this has no effect on the equity. The value of all open trades is what the equity is showing.
- Closing positive trades out of a basket of trades, and leaving the negatives open, makes it harder for the EA to close all trades. The positive ones, when kept open, will attribute more and more positive cash to the basket. Do the math, and calculate the averige opening price of any basket before- and after closing the positive trades in it. Price needs to go a lot further to close all after one has closed the positives trades in a basket.

DD can be decreased by making the close the gap value bigger. Another option would be to set a SL to trades that are x-pips in profit. When price goes against you, these trades will close and not attribute to the DD again. Key would be then to make sure these trades are re-entered when price decides to co-operate again.

For example this EURCHF daily chart below, I'm stuck in this basket for nearly 5 months now.
Since may 2018 this pair delivered over 1K in cash, the DD on this basket alone is now over €1.900
Break-even for the basket is 1.112
Would I close the trades that are in profit at the moment, the BE would rise 10, 20 or 30 pips, making it harder for the EA to close the entire basket.
EURCHFDaily.png
PoS keeps adding orders on the retraces, lowering the BE with every order that triggers.
I'm confident the basket will close, adding nearly 1500 pips to the account.

WHEN it will close however, I have no idea... :arrrg:

It is correct, I meant to say that it increases the budget at that moment but the equity will increase thanks to the faster compensation over time with the arrival of new and fresh trades that will probably be positive. This is because the Peaky indicator is profitable in the long run.
So we will give the POS more opportunities to close the total basket.

It remains to be studied when to close those already positive trades in profit.

Right, in fact, as I wrote in the previous post, we must not close all the positive ones but only those that are struggling to close when the volatility is low in flat periods, or when there is a pattern of candles that would indicate an imminent market opposition.

I fully agree, that was what I essentially wanted to say.
How about implementing this re-open trading and the SL option or better the Trailing SL in the POS settings? :)

Next week I will open a new bigger real account and use the Renexxxx news filter (thanks Renexxxx! :good: ) for more security, only positive swaps option, and MPTM to manage the closing with trailing SL.

The POS is a beast capable of generating stable profits, it only needs to be tamed.

Hi all,

I added a new option in the POS settings! :)

Accept as input a fixed value that represents the cash profit target.

When particular trades of the same currency obtain the sum of the target they will be automatically closed.

It can also be a single trade.

It is an initial project, which can evolve by adding a condition on the code that says: if one or more indicators reach a certain range, for example with an ATR indicator or fibonacci levels, it activates the target profit closing function on the same symbols .

This would automate the manual interventions I have done on the real account to date and have given me good performance.

Good trading!
