M & W scanner

Post by szfxtrader »

Hi Everyone,

Please, is there any coder that can create an indicator that we can use with TD dashboard to scan possible M & W formations on multiple pairs and TFs? Thank you in advance for the replies and help.

Example:

Possible M formation: /\/ (The indicator will alert us before the lag down from the top ( \ ), in order for us to sell the pair at a good level of resistance

Possible W formation: \/\ (The indicator will alert us before the lag up from the bottom( / ), in order for us to buy the pair at a good level of support

Those 2 patterns have been taught by CJ

Here there is an example, but it will alert just after the pattern already be completed(later entry): https://www.mql5.com/en/code/7050

Another example, but inverted entry style: https://www.forexfactory.com/thread/541 ... -indicator

I do not know of the existence of the indicator you are looking for. Doesn't mean it does not exist.

I see that CJ's thread is where you have been most active, so I assume that nothing has been posted there? Nothing in Jedrula's thread?

Indicator code mostly baffles me, so I could not even begin to contemplate creating an indi that paints the signals on historic charts.

What I possibly can do is create an indi that looks at the three most recent fractals. High-low-high could represent a possible M formation. Low-high-low could represent a possible W formation.

Let's hang on and see if expert indi coders are able to step forward. I will give it a go if not.

Thank you very much! I couldn't find the indicator here or at any other forum. Just the indication of the possible M or W formation is fine, it doesn't need to draw nothing on the chart.

The attached is not quite working properly yet.

It works backwards in time through the first four fractals.

Low high low high is a potential W formation.

High low high low is a potential M formation.

It is possible to have say, consecutive high fractals, so this is mixed and not a potential formation yet.

It will trigger an alert at the open of each new candle if there are potential M or W formations.

What I cannot persuade the damn thing to do is send a signal to TDesk and I cannot work out why not. I have loaded other compatible indis onto the chart and they are just fine, so it isn't TDesk.

Have it for what it is for now and I will get the TDesk signals sending correctly when I have figured out what I am doing wrong.

It has not done that here but I have added an extra line of code just in case a variable needs re-initialsing.

I have added a chart display of the latest detected function.

Still no idea why the bloody thing will not connect to TDesk. Maybe some who actually understands this stuff could take a look? Do a search for //TDesk code to find the relevant places.

M & W scanner

Post by tomele »

Hi @all.

I finally stumbled upon this thread.

Attached is a version of the indi that cooperates with TDesk. I have changed two things:

In lines 43 and 186-196, the strings sent to TDesk contained slash (/) characters. Slashes are not allowed in strings sent to TDesk as they are special characters used to separate information in the global variables. My fault not having pointed that out somewhere.

The signal timeframe that is sent to TDesk must be a real timeframe. If PERIOD_CURRENT is the indi timeframe, this must get converted to the actual chart timeframe like PERIOD_H1. See lines 183 and 184 how to do this.

I will publish a new TDesk.mqh containing some basic explanations and additional code to handle these problems.

Hello. I know it's been a long time, but I was wondering if you've come across any indicators for M/W patterns.

I've been using the M/W model profitably enough on manual, but this takes me a long time analyzing dozens of graphs, and I'd like to make life easier. At the moment the indi kindly created here on the forum doesn't seem to work anymore
