Having written that, it is a Bank Holiday here in the UK, then there are only three days to go before NFP. I have sat out of August and will not attempt trading until Monday 6th September.

For those of you new to all this, I remind you that Friday is the US Non-Farm Payroll news release. This happens on the first Friday in the month unless that happens also to be the first of the month, in which case it is moved to the second Friday.
News releases are no longer the thingy of terror that they were a decade ago, but they can cause chaos in the markets. NFP is one of the bigger releases, at 1.30 PM :London time. It is up to you to work out what time this is where you live.
Typically, the markets go to sleep in the hours leading up to the release of the NFP figures. Spreads widen dramatically. The actual news release sometimes triggers huge moves, albeit less often these days than a decade ago. My best advice to noobs is this: try to be out of the markets by about 12 hours before the release, and stay out until they reopen after the weekend.

Official SHF broker
No point in learning to trade like a master trader if your broker is bollocks, so I have decided to make more of a fuss about Global Prime for the benefit of all who can trade through them but have not yet elected to do so. These are the ones I know about. Contact me if yours should be in this exclusive group and I have missed it out. It will never be a large section.
Before you use them there are a few points you MUST understand, grasp and learn to live by:
1) There is an unbreakable, unshakable and unavoidable rule of retail forex trading and it is this: if it can happen and it is bad for you, then it will happen, and probably sooner rather than later.
2) You will have losing days.
3) You will have losing weeks.
4) You will have losing months.
5) The only thing that matters is that the equity curve rises over a longer period of time than most of you possess the ability to concentrate for.
6) You need balls of steel to trade Forex. 2), 3) and 4) will sort you out rapidly if you are a wimp.
7) Never trade with funds you cannot afford to lose. You will be desperate to succeed and fear will cloud your judgement. Guess how I know? Guess why I am so relaxed about trading these days. Only a cretin trades with the pension pot or remortgages the house in order to do so.
