fiox has identified GER30 as a good pair potentially, for this EA.

Have look at XAUUSD (gold/usd) in this all history pic of progress since I started the demo on July 20th:
Since July 20th.png
Our long-standing member wolfeman aroused my interest in xauusd a few weeks ago when he asked me to make additions to an EA that I coded for him a long time ago. I added the pair to Spready's list on Nov 20th, so those 146 closed orders came within a fortnight.

There are three gold pairs - xauusd, xauaud and xaueur. Load them onto an H4 chart and you will see that they head off in the same direction for long periods of time. They often move very quickly as well - just the sort of directional volatility we want here.

I have removed EU and UJ from Spready's trading pairs and replaced them with xa and xe. Let us see what happens in the coming weeks.

Hello folks, it's been quite a while since my last update, time for a quick update. Of all the Spready variables that I have tested, at the moment only 2 survive, the others closed due to poor performance. I'm still not sure how, but the orders 15 grid 25 version continues to make gains, despite the DD of 45%. The initial beliefs about the DAX30 no longer bode well. Given the performance, I will continue the test :ugeek:

The end of another month has arrived, and still Spready is holding on. This evening, as I watched how he managed to survive yet another attack, a small light bulb went on. Spready is already well equipped to deal with normal market conditions, and on a volatile cross he can easily close several baskets in a row. However, when the number of trades increases Spready begins to struggle, and instead of facilitating his exit from the progression by reducing the TP point, we maintain the same TP value, increasing the swap costs, the DD, and the risk of reaching the chosen maximum number of orders.

Long story short, I think that Spready should have a variable TP, based on the number of active buy/sell positions, and the TP should decrease as the number of positions increases, in order to exit the progression as soon as possible. A task certainly not easy to manage, but who said the market was an easy business?

Cheers

Would a multiplier of the CashProfitTarget per number of positions work?
e.g. with multiplicator of 0.95 once over 4 trades:
Trades / CashTP
4 100
5 95,0
6 90,3
7 85,7
8 81,5
9 77,4
10 73,5
11 69,8
12 66,3
13 63,0
14 59,9
15 56,9

Would you mind sharing your set file?

To give some context consider the following, in the case of just 1 losing position, 4 profitable positions are needed to reach the TP, which occurs around 125 pips after the "0 point" (the moment where all pending orders are entered). These are the points where the CashTP of 100 is reached

4 buy - 1 sell > TP after 125 pips from point 0
7 buy - 2 sell > TP after 180 pips from point 0
10 buy - 3 sell > TP after 260 pips from point 0
12 buy - 4 sell > TP after 300 pips from point 0
13 buy - 5 sell > TP after 350 pips from point 0

As is easy to understand, after only 3 losing positions the TP point quickly moves away, and such a directional market movement may not occur easily. Some cutoff values might be similar to the following, but only hypothetical for now

1 position on both sides > TP 75% of the original
2 positions on both sides > TP 50% of the original
3 positions on both sides > TP 25% of the original

4 positions on both sides > TP 0 (at this point, after 4 positions on both sides, break even is probably the best thing)

I don't know for sure what results this would have, but the most interesting thing is that this simple change would also reduce the number of profit orders needed, for example the situation 7 buy - 2 sell to profit would probably only require 5 buys.

The setfile should be more or less default, just with orders 15 and grid 25, I will try to get it as soon as I have access to the VPS

Edit: setfile attached. Note this is setfile for the V1a, but nothing changes with the new Spready version, the new function to close all trades after X number of open positions is not active in my case

Hey Gang, just wondering if the most recent ideas have been implemented in the EA yet on the first page so I can download and test it out? I don't think I've tested out any EA's for the past 5 years as they all seem to be failures for me so hoping we have something that actually has been working for people. Are the defaults set at conservative settings and ready to apply to a chart? Thank you

I think while we're waiting for a possible update containing newer ideas, if you want to test a good idea might be to used fiox's setfile, shared a few posts up, which seems to be doing well. Just my $0.02

Hey Steve, I was thinking since this is a Spread EA, just wondering if you can add some code into the EA comments showing the actual Spread Value. I have an indicator but thought since this is an EA based on Spread might be nice to add in there ..... or just use the Indicator :)
