HGI for beginners.

Hi all,
First word, thanks everybody here, for your great contribute!!!!!!
I'm newbie here, so please forgive me if I do some stupid questions

.
I wrote an EA, using hgi_lib.ex4. It working well with all brokers (I tested with GP, Bully Pepperstone, IG, IC,...) except Liteforex (http://www.liteforex.com).
I tried to fix this troubles, but I cant, while Crap4 say the error occurred in hgi_lib.mq4 (60,50)
Please help me!!

Can anyone assist as to where to get the 100 pip template with that 20 pip's in between. I have read the guide and was able to make my first trade today on NZDUSD for 155 pip's where I exited because I wanted to have my first big win in forex.

I've used search and other indicate that they are on the first post in HGI but I cannot locate it.

Hello, I've demo traded HGI for a few weeks now with mixed results. This is the first trading system I try to manually trade with.

To truly understand why a signal occurs, what HGI actually does on a granular level, I wanted to study the MQL4 code. Is the code for this indicator not available?

I made some bad trades and feel like I should learn more about the tools I am using, I don't know it this is the right approach. Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

The code for HGI is not open source. Some bastard would be selling it on Ebay as his own work, within minutes of the code being published. This is also the reason that HGI has an expiry date.

Ditto for the logic behind HGI. It is indeed possible to infer it but members are not allowed to post their conclusions and any such post would be deleted instantly. You will see that I have edited your post slightly.

The same applies to TDesk and its associated drones, for the same reasons.

Most of the stuff coded by SHF members is open source and we do not usually like 'black box' stuff. HGI and TDesk are the exceptions.

Hi, I just found the forum a few days ago and was trying to passively drink from a firehose, but it looks like I have a newbie question that I can't find the answer to. I'm looking to try the HGB EA which depends on the HGI, and the HGI thread mentions an expiration of 1/1/24. Although we don't have flying cars yet, that date is rapidly approaching. Is there a plan to update the indicator with a later expiration, or perhaps no expiration? Thanks!

OK - I'm almost ready to give up after a few days of knocking my head against the wall. I like to hgi indicator and would like to use it as an EA. So I download the EA, added the files to the include and library folders, changed options for autotrading, have all smiley faces but the EA will not place a trade. I am running it on a 1 min chart so I can see the results quickly. I get alerts that the program has given a buy/sell signal and the experts tab shows the buy/sell signals, but no trades are taken. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Good on you for trying.

In your third pic I see a green rad arrow on the chart yet the EA display says that there is no such arrow.

Bear in mind that HGI leaves an arrow on the chart even though the conditions that created it have disappeared. Change the time frame and then change back again and you will find that the arrow disappears.

Thingies happen ridiculously fast on the M1. I would cheerfully bet a tenner that this is what happens: HGB generates a signal; the EA calls up its HGI lib functions; the conditions that have generated the HGI signal have disappeared and so the EA cannot send a trade - no signal. I guarantee that this is the case if EveryTickMode is false and the ea is only looking for a signal on the open of a new candle and is studying conditions at the close of the previous one.

Try losing your obsession with the M1 and try demoing umpteen charts on a higher time frame.

Also bear in mind that I do not allow members of SHF to post backtesting results because they are crap, I do recommend CrapergyTester for testing code on individual pair ea's such as this one - I use it myself. There is nothing wrong in the code if CrapergyTester generates trades.

I do not promise that this will end your difficulties but another thingy to bear in mind is: the ea code you are using has worked for years. If the ea is showing generated signals yet not sending orders then something else is wrong. Time for some CrapergyTesting.

My question is not intended to be insulting or patronising, I promise. You haven't set the StopTrading input to 'false', have you?

One more thought, just in case. I have a section in my shell codes that prevents sending trades whilst I an developing a bot. Go to void LookForTradingOpportunities(), scroll down and see if you come across this snippet:

This prevents any trades being sent. It shouldn't be the case here but no harm in checking.
