  Please note that full Goldy is no use to you if your government or broker does not allow hedging. You can still use her basket trading features if you know that you only want to trade in a specific direction and take advantage of the grid trading elements. The inputs are TradeLong and TradeShort. Details in the user guide.
  
  Goldy arose from my experimenting with a manual system on the XAUUSD pair and I realised it was ideal for automation. I have described Goldy's trading method in the user guide.
  
  User guides
  I have included the .odt file in case you want to make notes of your own. It is an Open Office document and I am fairly sure the Microsoft Office can load it. If not, Apache Open Office is open source and free to download and use. Download it from https://www.openoffice.org/download/
  
  Manual position closure
  Use the attached 'Goldy position closure script' for manual closure. Goldy keeps track of the latest equity targets by storing their values on tiny files held on the platform. She will be working with out of date figures if they are not deleted, so the script takes care of that as well.
  
  In conclusion
  Have fun with this one - go with the default inputs until you are familiar with how the bot works.. It is very satisfying to see the equity increasing day by day - sometimes three or four times. At the time of writing, the demo I have developed Goldy on, has increased from a start of $5,000 to just over $7,600 in just a few weeks.
  
  Edit 26th April 2025. No individual take profits experiment
  Offsetting has been doing a good job of managing drawdown and preventing large gaps forming between buys and sells, at the time of writing.
  
  This made me speculate about not sending TP's with individual orders. My rationale is this: the equity profit target will be hit rapidly when the market steams off in one direction and the position does not become hedged.
  
  I have started a demo with an opening balance of $2,000. You can follow along if interested. The details are:

  An 'investor password' allows you to view the account in one of your demo platforms but denies you the ability to alter the trading, so you do not need to worry about possibly mucking things up.

  I could not post an investor password to the demo I used to start all this because it was an old account and I had not kept the details. The platform slowed to a crawl last week and eventually I had to start a new demo. I used an starting balance of $11,000, roughly equal to that of the original demo once an equity target was hit.   We are finding large gaps opening up between the buy and sell groups, when the market does not cooperate. The solution might be to manually add trades and the 'Stop order manager' facilitates this.

Good fun yesterday and today with 7 equity profit targets hit. The balance and equity after the last closure took the account to just over $8,000.

I set it up on on 50k demo account and it’s up over 53k now with about a 2k drawdown at the moment with 8 trades open.. will see how it recovers from this!

It has been a great week for Goldy so far, with 4 equity targets hit on Monday, 3 yesterday and 2 so far today. The account is just over $8,200 now.

There is an idea I have been toying with but not actually tried yet. Use the close all script when the accrued profit for the day so far is $x greater then the current DD. Just a thought.

It is wonderful how quickly a position can go from being a long way away from the equity profit target to hitting the target. This can happen in minutes.

Brilliant.

Did you check your margin level percent whilst getting worried and treating the demo as if it were live? One of the advantages I am finding is that the level does not drop to scary levels because of the hedging element.

I doubt either of us would be trading the defaults on a $50,000 account - nor would we need to such would be the profit in just small movements in our favour. That is something for the future.

I am going to leave Goldy as she is for now. I will consider in the future, automating my closure idea given that you found implementing it manually was a help.

I had a third equity target hit today, so that is 10 so far this week. The XAUUSD volatility is fabulous; it remains to be seen if it continues.

So, another 2 equity targets hit today but here is my latest conundrum:

Given that the trade sizes are 0.08 it will not take a rise of much more before the position hits a third target today yet Goldy is following the sell stops obediently and it will be the blink of an eye before one of them fills, what do I do?

Shut down the position? Leave it to run?

It might depend on the size of the account. $1,000 account? Leave it to run? $100,0000 account? I doubt I could resist swallowing the profit.

Let us hope we get to deal with such a conundrum.
