Fine tune that sucker! I totally get what you are looking for and can't wait to hear if you have any changes because the current values work GREAT.

Bob, realize that the numbers on the far right (the vertical scale) are affected by the entire history displayed on the chart, not just by the realtime bar. If the repainter produces larger numbers in its recalculated historic bars -- which it usually does, from what I've seen -- then the far right scale will be different. But the indi values on the realtime bar are the same. The realtime decisions should be the same.

hi bob,
Gary is right... I also tried to communicate this to you...I trade the TMAtrue slope with your Values, at least the .4 ones and it works flawless... I use the .8 only as a confirmation that the move is still gaining strength or that it is staying strong. Or on the other hand that it looses strength and that I look to get out of the trade...or tighten my SL...
I also use the MTF TMA to see what the lower time frames are doing especially H1 and M30 or M15.
happy trading,
NeoTrader

Hi guys, checking tmatrue indi version on past bars don't you think tma(standard or tmatrue version) delays entries ? maybe it's good for exit but for entries it's late I think.
what do you think ?

You seem fresh off the boat so my advice to you is to delve deeper into 10.2.acosma wrote:Hi guys, checking tmatrue indi version on past bars don't you think tma(standard or tmatrue version) delays entries ? maybe it's good for exit but for entries it's late I think.

Trading forex isn't about picking tops or bottoms. Well not for me anyway. It's about getting a confirmation of a new trend and then taking a chunk out of it. Here's an example:
AUDUSD drops 1000 pips. About 200 pips into the fall the TMA slope strength goess greater than -.4 and we get in short. It then drops another 800 pips. By this time the TMA slope is around -.8 .. It then starts rising 200 pips while the tma slope goes into range mode again. So we close our position. So we effectively miss out on the first 200 pips and last 200 pips but who cares when you've scored 600 pips out of a 1000 pip drop.
Now I just pulled all those numbers out of my arse but I hope you get what I'm saying.
Has anyone noticed that the TMA slope goes into range mode about the same time as the pivots going out of order? pretty cool to see them syncing up.

yes I agree with you on big trending moves, but on other smaller moves when tma cross 0.4 or -0.4 you are already at the half of the move....at least I notice this... we all want big moves but as you know it's not always so......Jemook wrote:You seem fresh off the boat so my advice to you is to delve deeper into 10.2.acosma wrote:Hi guys, checking tmatrue indi version on past bars don't you think tma(standard or tmatrue version) delays entries ? maybe it's good for exit but for entries it's late I think.

acosma, virtually all indicators like this are trailing indicators. They have to look at recent price action to make their calculations, and that means they can't calculate a new position until some of the move has already happened. That's just a fundamental limitation of this type of indicator.
The exceptions are things like support/resistance lines, Fib retracements, etc. Those predict the movements ahead of time. But that's not what we're using here. The TMA works well, even with its delay.

Re: TMA Discussion Thread
It seems that different platforms are giving different TMA Slope results.
For example:
On Cowboy IBFX I have GBPUSD at -.47
On AxiTrader I have GBPUSD at -.35
Could someone who understands how the indicator gets it's values explain why there is a difference? Is this a candle start thing? Can we make this uniform somehow across all platforms? I think the Cowboy IBFX values are the correct ones but that's just the feel I get from my testing.

Hm. On Cowboy IBFX I have -0.30, just a minute after you had -0.47. I just ran LoadHistory on this demo so I should have full data history.
