Fxozgirl's pic of a roo being ridden may be a myth but is quite widely accepted as fact. Its amazing how little is known of Australia by educated people in foreign lands. My wife and I lived in Toronto, Canada for a number of years and my wife's employer, a solicitor, was easily convinced that kangaroos were ridden in 'roo races' held regularly at metropolitan races courses!! I wonder if I could con an entrepeneur into taking bets - might be more lucrative than FX trading!!

It is not all myths.

This happened 15 mins from centre of Brisbane a couple of years ago.

Local residents have condemned a plan to cull about 6,000 kangaroos frombushland in Brisbane's south-west. The RSPCA has received complaints about the animals causing a traffic hazard near the Sir David Longland jail.

They built a jail. Put up the fence. But they trapped a few kangaroo's inside the prison outer fence. It was like a private reserve for them. and a few kangaroos turned into thousands in a few years.

I would be scared to go into the waters of Australia though after hearing the story of the surfer being eaten by the Great White. I'll just stay on the beach, and enjoy whatever the locals are drinking.
