Getting to Know Empty4 Inside Out

Many of Steve's recent EAs use an "infinite loop" model, where they enter the start() function and never leave. EAs like that don't respond to parameter settings.

Some of his EAs are written to pay attention to the "Expert Advisors" button. Click on that to disable EAs, then your EA might respond to the parameter request.

Steve says you shouldn't change parameters via F7 / right-click anyway, but instead you should drag a new copy of the EA onto the chart and set the new parameters there. I don't know why. That method has the big disadvantage that the EA might not "adopt" open positions properly.

one little thing that I could not find online. The color of the line at an open orders price is the same as the color of volume in properties. I know its a little thing but it was driving me crazy I like a dark grey background and I could not see any of my open orders.

have you tried the properties (right click on the chart and then properties). There you can set the colors ... also for volume...

Many of Steve's EA's place some information on the screen which is quite handy.... I would like to increase the size of the font as I find the font a little small to read.

Can someone enlighten me as to how to increase the font size.

I don't think you can. I found one discussion where someone was bemoaning the small fonts and his old eyes, and he finally said the best answer he found was Windows Magnifier. It's a tool that magnifies parts of the screen so you can see small type better. Type "windows key" -> Magnifier.

Gary is dead right, much as it pains me to admit it.

It is impossible to change text sizes in the screen feedback that my bots offer.

Fantastic to see you getting deep down and dirty with this stuff Jasper. I cannot encourage you enough to keep going - you are starting where I once did and now we are both here in my own forum. Who knows where you might go?

Re your code, you gain information from failed modifications by calling error reporting. CrapMq4 will not do this automatically. Study my shell code to see how this can be done. My methods are far from perfect, but the work for me.

steve, thanks for the encouragment.
the error reporting is already attached to the code, (the base program is your pivoty slope) and the getlasterror code reads a 0, from which i learned nothing, and so tried several configurations of the ordermodification. but i have not found a configuration that worked. i am using fxcm, i thought if the values i gave the call was 0, ordermod would use what it has and so was the safest values to use. but i tried the call with a change of only the stop and it also fails and returns error code 0.
any suggestions of what else to try? that is the error reporting you referenced, isn't it?

Sub Window level zones colors

When you want to set a different background color for the chart, that color is also applied to sub window(s). What i should like to find is how to set a backgrond color for the positive values (above 0 level line) and a second color for the negative zone (below 0 level line).
Looking at the ini files, i cant see how to tweak these colors.

Googling about something new , i've also found an amazing project named Autograf4 and working with Empty4.
