Just made an IDE for MQL4

Yes, Visual Studio is about the best programming environment on Windows. But w633 (dude, don't you have a name?? ), the current IDE is great and everybody's very happy with it. A VS-based IDE would be even better, but how much of your life is it going to eat up? Is it worth your investment? If it's something you'd enjoy doing, then go for it.

given all the rant people can have on windows or IE, visual studio is the greatest programming IDE ever, period. trust me, ask any software professionals and they'll tell you the same thing.

hehe....ok...visual studio has a long way behind it, and it is actually a good IDE for Windows Programmers...but the greatest programming IDE ever? Ask this Apple Programmers or former NextStep Developers....and I think they will heavily disagree...

Actually Next (Also a Steve Jobs Company) and the NextStep Development Environment was the Game changer in IDEs and was Years ahead of any IDE at his time...Microsoft did what MS can do best and borrowed (copied) many of these features in his later visual Studio versions...and is still not there where NextStep was..

Enough MS bashing..

P.S. I'm not a Apple Fanboy...still Windows and Linux User..

when you know you could do something better but you never make the move to make it happen, for me it's just like an itch that you need to scratch, besides i can also learn a lot by doing so while helping others, seem like a win-win.

NextStep is really ancient and no longer exists. i don't think it's fair to say of all the years of development & innovation from MS shop are based off "copying" others. i understand a lot of people hate MS but i do think people are given them less credit than they deserve. I don't know how long you are working with computers...but if you have followed the development of Microsoft over the last 30 Years than you would come to the same conclusion...Innovation and Microsoft are two Universes that clash together...I don't know of any relevant so called Innovation of Microsoft that is really based on there own inspiration or genius...

NextStep isn't actually dead...it has reincarnated in Apples current OS and Development Environment, because Apple got Next when Steve Jobs got back.

Neo, you're right. With few exceptions over the years, Microsoft doesn't innovate. They buy or otherwise "borrow" ideas from others. From the very start, Gates bought an OS (86-DOS) from somebody else and repackaged it as MSDOS, and even that was enough of a ripoff of CP/M that Digital Research threatened legal action.

Microsoft's strengths have always been marketing, ruthlessly pursuing opportunities, and crushing their opposition. Not innovation.

Apparently I haven't compiled anything with #include files for a while...

I have the include files under experts\include. When I try to compile an indicator that references them (with e.g. "#include <stdlib.mqh>") I get "cannot open the program file" errors.

I tried opening Metaeditor and it compiles it just fine.

Do I have to set up something in SciTE to get it to invoke the compiler right?
