YES IT IS TRUE TMA, NO (SO CALLED REPAINTING).

My setup is M15,H1,H4 on a M15 or H1 Chart with 21 SMA or EMA. No other special settings...
Huh. Well I duplicated your chart and it did look a lot closer (not identical) to mine. I wouldn't have thought D1 would be such a problem though. You're using H4 on an M15 chart, so you have 16 M15 candles per H4 step. I was using D1 on an H1 chart, so I had 24 H1 candles per D1 step. Not that different.

I guess with 16 candles per step, a 21-candle SMA is 21/16 = 1.3125 longer. 1.3125 * 24 = 31.5. If I use a 31-candle SMA on my D1 TMA, that looks a lot cleaner.

With M15 / H1 / H4 on an M15 chart, the H1 TMA has 4 M15 candles per H1 step. So effectively you're doing an SMA of 21/4 = 5.25 H1 levels. If I displayed a D1 TMA on an M15 chart, and I wanted to do a similar SMA, I should use a length that covers 5.25 D1 levels = 5.25 * 4*24 = 504! Maybe that's how you should be sizing your MA lengths -- so you have a consistent number of steps in the MA.

Just to clarify: your entries rely on *crosses*, not levels above/below the MA. I'm a little confused how you implement that. Let's say the market's heading down, and all 3 Slopes are below their MA. Then it turns up. Your M15 TMA crosses its MA, but that's only one cross. Then the H1 TMA crosses its MA. So that's two crosses, and you'd go long. Right? How is that different from saying "2 of the 3 are above their MAs" ? I assume it's something to do with pullbacks and temporary cross-backs but I'm just not seeing it...

You Math is Sound and this could be the way to calculate MAs for the different TFs. Since I'm quiet a found of the Fibonacci Sequence I would use Fibonacci numbers that are close to this calculations...but thats just me...;)
garyfritz wrote:Just to clarify: your entries rely on *crosses*, not levels above/below the MA.
Thats correct...only crosses...I use the levels only as a kind of probability meter for RR Calculations...
The more the levels of the three TFs correlate (are about the same level or indicate the same trend direction) the higher the probability for a stronger trend...and the higher the RR goes.

eg. latest entry in EURUSD ( Data as of yesterday 21h GMT+1)
D1 is at 0.21 ~ weak buy/ranging and steps go up (raising)
H4 is at 0.98 ~ strong buy and steps go down (falling)
H1 is at 0.14 ~ weak buy/ranging and steps go down (falling)
M15 is at -0.32 ~ weak sell/ranging

The cross of the H1 MA gives me the signal to enter short. Since only the M15 Level is in a sell level the probability factor is low and my RR for this trade would be 1:1. I set my SL on the latest High/Low Swings. Since the latest high was only 16 pips from the entry I use my minimum SL of 20. With RR of 1:1 my TP is automatically set on 20 Pips. only a small fish to catch...
If we look forward...at 1:30 my TP would be hit.
But at 1:15 the H1 TMA crossed below the zero line to also go to sell mode...this could have been a signal to increase the RR to 1:2 since now 2 TFs showing sell bias...I didn't do it since the direction of the M15 was going slightly up and I was already tired and wanted to bed.. ;)

In your example I would be in a sell trade if my TP wouldn't be hit. If the M15 crossed the MA and the H1 would have formed a first step up (I would wait till the H1 candle/step is closed) I would look to exit this trade.

As soon as the second MA cross happens I would pull the trigger for a long trade thats correct.

It's not different...did I say/wrote something else? I always said that if 2 of the 3 TFs are in the same direction with TMA/MA cross that this would trigger a trade.
Did I misunderstood your question?

But you know that the MA is only calculated for the M30 TMA on your indicator not for both TMA's...

Hey Neo, I know you are using TMATrue. I was suggesting that perhaps your cross system might work better if TMATrue were not normalized (the moves would be more exaggerated, and perhaps have less chop). Just a thought. I do like your system.

maybe you will be able to code one that calcule both? it would be very useful and saves space on the chart.
With respect to 21MA, there is something that worries me: repaints? or just after to incorporate to the TMA´s assumes the quality of not repainting? or would we need to be replaced by one that have a "true" mode?

I'm already thinking about it but I'm not shure to do it as MTF or only single TF.

come on dentiok...this is a Moving Average....it repaints because the average changes as long as the current candle is not closed or in case of the MTF TMA the step of the TF is not finished.
